(St. George, Utah - Oct. 4, 2025) - The Trailblazer volleyball team continued its strong start to WAC play defeating Utah Valley in four sets on Saturday afternoon at Burns Arena.
Utah Tech (12-3, 3-0 WAC) extended its winning streak to four matches and overcame an opening set loss to take the final three sets, 25-16, 25-19, 25-19 over Utah Valley (6-9, 2-1 WAC).
Senior outside hitterÂ
Kennedi Knudsen was one of three Trailblazers to tally double-digit kills leading the way with 17 followed by 11 kills from
Tessa Treanor and 10 by
Taylor Snow.
Freshman setterÂ
Tehanie Waters notched a double-double leading the team with 20 assists and added 11 digs.
Mya Laufiso led the way with 13 digs and the duo of
Casidy Fried and
Sydney Reese each had a team-high six blocks.
How It Happened
After dropping the opening set, the Trailblazers broke through in the second set jumping out to an 11-8 lead.
A 5-0 run for the Trailblazers pushed UT in front, 16-8. A kill by Knudsen kept the Blazers ahead by eight (22-14) and a kill by
Nana Asiata, ace by Waters and a service error by UVU sealed the set win for UT.
Taking another early lead in the third set, the Trailblazers led 11-6 after a kill by Snow and pushed their lead to 10 (21-11) after blocks by Reese and Snow.
A 7-2 run by the Wolverines cut UT's lead down to five (23-18), but kills from Reese and Fried sealed the set win for a 2-1 lead.
Looking to close out the match in four sets, the Wolverines led 4-3 in the early going, but a 6-0 run for the Trailblazers put UT up 9-4 after a kill by Treanor.
Four straight points for UVU cut UT's lead down to one, but the Trailblazers continued to lead in the set by four (16-12) on a kill by Snow.
Back-to-back attack errors by UVU put UT in front, 19-14 and a kill by Knudsen kept the Trailblazers in front by five (23-18).
One final point went to UVU as the final two points of the match went to the Trailblazers thanks to a kill by Knudsen and an ace by Waters.

- Utah Tech is off to its second straight 3-0 start to WAC play after also starting 2024 with a 3-0 mark.
- The Trailblazers led the match in kills (56-45) & hitting percentage (.231-.146) with UVU leading UT in service aces (4-2), blocks (13-12) & digs (54-52).
- UT is off to only its second-ever 5-0 start at home in the NCAA era joining 2014. The Trailblazers have five home matches remaining.
