Trailblazers Stumble at Utah Valley

The Trailblazers return home next Saturday to host Southern Utah at 7 p.m. at Burns Arena.

(Orem, Utah - Oct. 25, 2025) - For only the second time this season, the Trailblazers were swept stumbling to Utah Valley on Saturday afternoon at Lockhart Arena.

In a battle of the top two teams in the WAC, Utah Tech (15-5, 6-2 WAC) dropped sets, 22-25, 22-25, 20-25 to Utah Valley (10-9, 6-1 WAC).

For a second straight match, Nana Asiata led the Trailblazers matching her career high with 19 kills while hitting .314.

Setter Marley Roe led the way with 27 assists while Mya Laufiso had a team-leading 15 digs.

Casidy Fried led the charge defensively with five blocks and she added four kills.

How It Happened
Jumping out to a 10-8 lead after an attack error by the Wolverines, the set was tied at 14 apiece on a kill by Sydney Reese.

Staying within one at 20-19 after a kill by Treanor, UVU used back-to-back kills to jump ahead by three and the two teams traded points down the stretch as the Wolverines eeked out the first set win.

A kill by Tessa Treanor started the second set and the Trailblazers built a 9-5 lead after a service ace by Roe.

Continuing to lead 13-12 after a kill by Treanor, the Wolverines went on a 12-5 run to jump ahead 24-18 and be on the brink of set point.

Four straight kills for the Trailblazers cut UVU's lead down to a pair, but one final kill for the Wolverines thwarted UT's comeback attempt.

The third set saw a kill by Asiata put the Trailblazers ahead 8-7 and another kill by Asiata tied the set at 12.

A kill by Emery Harrison kept the Trailblazers within one at 16-15 and another kill by Asiata continued to keep UT within one at 20-19.

That was as close as UT could get as five of the final six points of the set went to the Wolverines to hand the Trailblazers a sweep.
