The Utah Tech University Athletic Department combined to post a 3.41 grade point average among its 15 varsity sports for the 2024 fall semester. This fall's semester GPA also marked the 15
th-straight semester, and the 20th semester in the last 23 overall, that Trailblazer student-athletes combined to earn at least a 3.00 GPA.
Â
Last semester's 3.41 GPA is the highest combined GPA in Utah Tech's brief NCAA Division I tenure, and is the second-highest combined GPA in the department's NCAA four-year era overall.
During the 2020 spring semester, Trailblazer student-athletes combined to record a 3.52 GPA, in a semester that was completed during the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic.Â
Â
In all, 14 of Utah Tech's 15 varsity sports posted at least a 3.00 GPA this past fall, with the women's golf program leading the way with a department best 3.83 GPA. Eight other programs recorded at least a 3.5 GPA or higher, including women's tennis (3.75), women's cross country (3.74), women's soccer (3.72), women's swimming (3.69), women's volleyball (3.66), baseball (3.61), men's cross country (3.61), and softball (3.52).
"I congratulate our student-athletes on another record breaking semester in the classroom," said Ken Beazer, Utah Tech Executive Director of Intercollegiate Athletics. "I am extremely proud of the hard work and dedication our student-athletes put in to excel both athletically and academically.Â
"We are very grateful to our academic support staff, our incredible faculty, and our coaches for their continued commitments to our overall student-athlete academic success," Beazer added."
Â
This past fall, nearly 75 percent of Utah Tech's 415 student-athletes (311-of-415) recorded at least a 3.2 GPA for eligibility for Western Athletic Conference all-academic honors. Of those 311 student-athletes, 149 Trailblazers carried a 3.75 or higher GPA, with 52 of those student-athletes posting a perfect 4.0 GPA.Â
Â
In addition, 75 student-athletes were included on the Dean's List (3.50-3.89 GPA), and 55 student-athletes making onto the President's List (3.90-4.0 GPA).Â
"Our Trailblazer student-athletes have once again demonstrated their commitment to academic excellence," said
Mike Olson, Utah Tech Associate Athletics Director for Academic Services and Student-Athlete Welfare."Despite the many changes Utah Tech has experienced during the 10 semesters as a NCAA Division I institution, the one constant has been the academic success of our student-athletes!"Â
