Utah Tech opened its first road series of the 2024 season with an 8-0 shutout loss at Wichita State on Friday afternoon at Eck Stadium.
Â
Wichita State ace Caden Favors (W, 3-0) struck out 10 and limited the Trailblazers to just five hits en route to a complete game victory.
Â
The Shockers (5-3) got all the runs they would need after a costly two-out Trailblazer error in the bottom of the first led to two unearned runs. Wichita State, which pounded out nine hits in the game, would tack on four more runs in the home third and single tallies in both the fourth and seventh frames.
Â
Utah Tech (1-9) collected the lone extra base hit of the afternoon, which came on a
Brennen Study ground-rule double with one out in the second inning.Â
Â
Utah Tech will look to draw even in the middle game of the three-game set on Saturday afternoon beginning at 11 a.m. (MT).Â
