Utah Tech combined to break two school records on the opening night of the 2024 Western Athletic Conference Women's Swimming Championships on Wednesday night at the Pfarr Natatorium in Pfarr, Texas.
 
The Trailblazers came away with a pair of sixth-place finishes in the two relay finals that were contested on night one. The 200-yard medley relay team of Eleonore Rembert, Skyler Lyon, Tavia Stemmons and Mandy Farnum started the night with the second-fastest time in program history with a 1:41.55.
 
Rembert set the pace for Utah Tech with a school record time of 24.98 in the 50 backstroke, which bested the senior's previous school record time set at last year's WAC championship meet.
 
Meanwhile, the 800 free relay team of Grace Benson, Lainey Devine, Cera Mallory and Natalia Zmierczak clocked the third-fastest time in Utah Tech history with a 7:32.13.
 
In addition, Abigail Hill broke the school record in the 50 butterfly with a time-trial mark of 25.87, while Mary Sims Cross swam the second-fastest 100 IM time in school history with a time trial mark of 57.23.
 
Day two of the WAC Championships will get underway at 9:30 a.m. (CT), with the preliminary heats in the 500-yard free. The final races for the second day will follow at 6 p.m. (CT).
