David Elliott Signs With Utah Tech

A 6-3 guard from Southern California, Elliott most recently played at Garden City Community College.

ST. GEORGE, UTAH - Utah Tech men's basketball has officially added David Elliott to its 2023-24 roster, head coach Jon Judkins announced on Monday. Elliott brings two seasons of college basketball experience to the program, having played his freshman season at Loyola Marymount before suiting up for the Garden City Community College Broncbusters last year.

"We are excited to be adding David to our team. His size at the guard position will have a positive impact for us," Judkins said. "David has a great competitive nature which we love and we're looking forward to seeing more of it come out in practice and on game days."

Last season, Elliott started 17 of his 29 appearances at Garden City, averaging 11.1 points, 4.4 rebounds, 4.4 assists and 1.0 steals per game while shooting 42.4% from the field and 78.5% at the line. He scored 10 or more points in 16 games, including a season-high 25 points against Butler Community College on Feb. 25, also adding seven assists, three steals and one block in a 78-77 victory.

During his freshman season at Loyola Marymount, Elliott appeared in five games and scored a season-high six points at San Francisco on Jan. 13, 2022.

Born in Northridge, Calif., Elliott played three seasons at Birmingham High School in the West Valley League and was an All-LA City Section and All-City Open Division selection as a sophomore, junior and senior, earning All-State honors his final two years. He was an All-American as a senior after averaging 34 points per game, helping lead his team to a league championship, and scored 47 in a playoff game while being named League MVP and City MVP.

Elliott joins prep guards Angelo Kambala (Las Vegas, Nev./Liberty HS) and Aric Demings (Desoto, Texas/Davenport HS), prep swingman Tennessee Rainwater (Davenport, Wash./Davenport HS), as well as transfers Beon Riley (Chula Vista, Calif./Hawaii), Jaylen Searles (Everett, Wash./Southeastern CC – Iowa) and Sammy Howlin (La Habra, Calif./Fullerton College) as members of the Trailblazers' talented signing class.

Why he chose Utah Tech: "I chose Utah Tech because of the whole coaching staff. They're all family oriented and the school has all the all the things I need to be successful."
