Utah Tech head men's basketball coach Jon Judkins announced on Monday the signing of Washington prep swingman Tennessee Rainwater to a National Letter of Intent to play for the Trailblazer program for the 2023-24 season.

"We're excited to add Tennessee to our program," Coach Judkins said. "Tennessee plays extremely hard on the court and has a great work ethic. His size and athleticism will have a positive impact on our program." utmbb_rainwaternli

Rainwater (6-6; Davenport, Wash.) earned first team all-state honors after he led Davenport High School to the 2023 WIAA 2B state championship this past March. Rainwater scored 20 of his game-high 24 points in the second half in the title game vs. Brewster HS on his way to state tournament MVP honors to help the Gorillas claim their first boy's basketball state crown in the school's 121-year history.

The soon-to-be Trailblazer averaged nearly a double-double during his senior campaign, scoring at a 28.3 ppg clip to go with 9.5 rebounds a game. Rainwater also averaged 5.5 assists and 2.1 steals for a team that closed out its championship season with a 27-2 record.

Rainwater is Utah Tech's third prep signee ahead next season, joining prep guards Angelo Kambala (Las Vegas, Nev./Liberty HS) and Aric Demings (Desoto, Texas/Davenport HS) as members of the Trailblazers' talented 2022-23 signing class.

Why Tennessee Rainwater chose Utah Tech – "Coming from a small town I have always had dreams of playing Division 1 basketball. Utah Tech was the first school to offer me, and I couldn't be more thankful for the coaching staff believing in me. I'm going somewhere I'm valued, and the opportunity to play against very good competition in the WAC is exactly what I'm looking for. I get to play for the winningest coach in Utah history, and I look forward to helping my team win in any way I can."
