Utah Tech recorded several season bests marks on the final day of competition at the 2023 Trailblazer Invitational on Saturday at the UTU HPC Pool.

The Blazers wound up placing sixth overall at the meet with 226 points. UC San Diego won the eight-team meet with 868.5 points, while UC Davis scored 744 points to claim runner-up honors.Â

Freshman
Mary Sims Cross wrapped her solid weekend of competition with an eighth-place finish in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:02.83. The freshman qualified for the "A" final thanks to a team season-best 2:01.71 preliminary heat time earlier in the day.

Fellow freshman
Abigail Hill posted the Trailblazers' best overall race finish on the night with a sixth-place showing in the in 200 fly with a time of 2:04.94, which was the seventh-fastest time recorded in that event in program history.Â

In addition, freshman
Ellianne Effland swam a 2:26.14 to win the "D" final in the 200 breast.Â

The Trailblazers then closed the night tying for eighth place in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:29.08, which wound up as the sixth-fastest 400 relay mark at Utah Tech.
Utah Tech will return to its 2023-24 meet schedule on Saturday, January 20, with a home dual meet against WAC foe Idaho.
