(Nacogdoches, Texas – Oct. 5, 2023) Utah Tech women's soccer played on the road Thursday night, defeating the Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks 3-0 at the SFA Soccer Field. The result improves Utah Tech's record to 6-4-4 with a game against UTRGV slated for Sunday.

The Trailblazer offense wasted no time against SFA, with
Ella Rusick scoring her second goal of the season just 13 minutes into the game with a deflected shot to the 'keeper's left. With an early 1-0 lead, SFA quickly responded and looked close to leveling things in the 24
th minute, but a triple save by
Bryanna Hofheins kept the Lumberjacks off the board.

Despite opportunities for both teams, the game went into halftime in favor of Utah Tech.

After
Kearney Hoggan forced a save five minutes into the half, Stephen F. Austin quickly responded and forced more saves from Hofheins, but again the Trailblazers kept the hosts off the board.

UT's offense would strike again soon after, with
Emily Garbett finding the back of the net off a 66
th minute corner kick before
Tessa Thornton tapped in a rebound to seal the game in the 69
th minute. Despite a few late efforts from SFA, Utah Tech's defense held strong to complete its third clean sheet of the 2023 campaign.

Five different Trailblazers recorded three or more shots as Utah Tech finished with 16 in the game (eight on target), while UT also took five corner kicks and drew 10 Lumberjack fouls. 23 different players featured for Utah Tech as Hofheins would be credited with 10 saves.

Utah Tech's Texas trip continues on Sunday down south, as the team faces UTRGV. Kickoff against the Vaqueros is scheduled for 11 a.m. MT.
