Utah Tech women's soccer fell 2-0 to North Dakota State on Saturday afternoon.
WHAT HEAD COACH MOLLY ROUSE SAID: After todays team performance, we were able to learn more about our group as a whole. A tough and aggressive NDSU side was able to challenge us in multiple ways. Most notably, in their physical presence and determination to control the game. While it was encouraging to see our Trailblazers create enough chances to equalize the game, unfortunately we fell short in final execution. With this being just our second full game of the season, we believe our ceiling is much higher than todays performance demonstrated and it does not represent the potential this group has. How we choose to respond to Monday's match will tell us even more about who we are as a team. We are looking forward to the challenges STU will provide and we are excited for another opportunity to grow in our team performance.
HOW IT HAPPENED: North Dakota State attacked quick with a shot on goal in the first minute. Trailblazer goalkeeper
Kayla Thompson came up with the save to keep UT energy up.
In the fifth minute,
Lauren Buxton took a shot at goal but was denied by an NDSU save. That was the only ball the Trailblazers were able to put on frame in the first half.
In the 32nd minute, NDSU was able to get a goal to take the 1-0 lead going into the half.
The Bison got another goal in the 57th minute to take a 2-0 lead.
Utah Tech found some fire the remainder of the second half out shooting NDSU 8-6.
In the final four minutes, the Trailblazers placed two shots on frame, one by Abigail Allard and the other by Karli Nyland. Despite the final push, Utah Tech fell short and NDSU took the 2-0 win.
