Dixie State closed out its second NCAA Division I season in the final round of the 2022 Western Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships played on Sunday at the Boulder Creek Golf Club in Boulder City, Nev.
All five DSU players participated as individuals as DSU is ineligible for the team portion of the WAC Championships during the program's transition to NCAA Division I status.

Two Trailblazers finished the weekend in the top-20 on the player leaderboard, led by sophomore
Josh Pehrson, who bounced back from an opening 4-over 76 with consecutive 2-under par 70s on the weekend to join four others tied for 10
th-overall at even par 216.

Pehrson rolled in four birdies during Saturday's second loop to move up 15 spots to t-19
th through 36 holes. He then went out in 3-under to start his final round on Sunday, followed by eight pars and one bogey on his second nine.

Sophomore
Camron Saunders was in the top-10 on the leaderboard after posting back-to-back red numbers to begin his tournament play. Saunders opened with a 1-under 71 on Friday to stand tied for seventh, then penciled in a team-high seven birdies on Saturday on his way to a 2-under 70 and a tie for ninth. However the sophomore closed with a 6-over 78 on Sunday to finish t-20
th at plus-3 219, and tied for sixth-overall in the tourney field with 13 total birdies.

Senior
Brock Nielson carded rounds of 76, 75 and 75 with eight combined birdies to place t-39
th at plus-10 226 in his final event as a Trailblazer. Meanwhile fellow senior
Spencer Wallace, who rolled in seven combined birdies and the team's lone eagle (round two) on the weekend, rebounded from an opening 79 with an even par 72 on Saturday, which was followed by a final round 76 as he closed his collegiate career in t-41
st at plus-11 227.

Junior
Davis Heslington joined Wallace at plus-11 227 after he fired rounds of 77, 74 and 76 with four total birdies in his three loops.
Abilene Christian (291-278-288-857, -7) leapfrogged fellow conference newcomer Sam Houston (284-281-293-858, -6) to claim the WAC team title by one stroke. Grand Canyon (292-279-290-861, -3) placed third, followed by New Mexico State (289-287-286-862, -2) in fourth, and Utah Valley (296-282-292-870, +6) and Lamar (301-280-289-870, +6) both tied for fifth.

Dixie State played in 10 team events this season and posted three top-10 team finishes, highlighted by a fifth place showing at the Southern Utah Pizza Hut Pat Hicks Invitational to open the spring season this past Feb. 11-13 at Sunbrook Golf Course in St. George.
