TRANSITIONING INTO THE WAC: Dixie State enters its second season of Division I play as a member of the Western Athletic Conference. Dixie State is scheduled to play an 18-game schedule including eight non-conference games and 10 conference games.
DIXIE STATE VS. UTAH VALLEY: This is the first time in institution history that Dixie State has faced Utah Valley in men's soccer.

Utah Valley currently sits 3-1-2 in the 2021 season. Their one loss came last week on the road at No. 3 Washington by a score of 2-1 in overtime. The team has scored 11 goals in its six matches. The Wolverines have only shutout one opponent all season.
Utah Valley is coached by former RSL player Kyle Beckerman. This is Beckerman's first coaching role after his retirement from soccer. He took over after Greg Maas resigned from the team last season.Â
The Wolverines are currently third place in the WAC.
COACHING STAFF: Jonny Broadhead (Colorado State-Pueblo, 2004) is in his fourth season as Dixie State head coach. Broadhead has a 34-34-3 overall record at Dixie State. He has led the program to 10 or more wins in two of his three seasons at the helm.Â
Broadhead has brought with him assistant coaches
Kyle Coffee and
Nick Vorberg who are both in their first seasons with DSU.Â
TRAILBLAZERS PICKED TENTH IN THE WAC: Dixie State was voted to finish 10th in the WAC men's soccer preseason coaches' poll released on August 17th. Grand Canyon was picked first with six first place votes. Seattle U was picked second with four first place votes. The Trailblazers did not have any members selected to the 2021 Preseason All-WAC team.
LAST SEASON IN THE WAC: The 2020-21 season was the first season the Trailblazers competed in the WAC. The 2020-21 season faced many cancellations and games rescheduled due to COVID-19. The Trailblazers closed the 2020-21 regular season with a 3-6-0 record. DSU's three wins in the 2020-21 season came against Incarnate Word, Houston Baptist and UTRGV, all except the win over Houston Baptist were on the road.
TEAM NOTES: Dixie State is coming off a five-game winless road streak. The game against Utah Valley will be the team's first home game since Aug. 29 and just the third home match of their season.
DSU has scored three goals in the 2021 season. One came from
Daniel Brubaker in the teams 1-0 win over UC San Diego. The other two came in the team's 3-2 loss to UC Riverside from
John Joseph and
Julian Herrera.
Julian Herrera was shown red in the team's match versus UC Riverside and will not be eligible to play in the team's matchup with the Wolverines.
The Trailblazers have outshot their opponents in four of their seven games of the year.Â
Saturday's match versus UVU is the team's first conference game of the 2021 season.
