LAST TIME OUT
Utah Tech men's soccer earned its second road win in a row, backed by two first-half goals and stout goalkeeping from Zack Jarvie.

The Spartans owned the first two scoring chances of the night, testing freshman goalie Zack Jarvie. Jarvie was able to deflect both shots, one to each side, to keep SJSU off the board.

In the 18th minute, San Jose State committed a foul in the box. Alex Polyukh stepped up to take the penalty kick and rocketed one over the diving Spartan keeper and into the back of the net to give the Trailblazers an early lead. The goal was Polyukh's first of the season, and the team's third PK goal of the season.

Just over five minutes later, a battle for possession ensued at midfield as the ball pinballed around after a throw in. Utah Tech was able to gain possession and Jacob Cinelli sent a beautiful through ball forward to Michael Watkins. After the defender just got a piece of the ball to not allow the pass to get through cleanly, Watkins gained control and fired a shot past the sliding keeper and in for his first score of the season.

Jarvie and the Trailblazers were able to hold off the Spartans in the first half, facing 11 shots and recording six total saves. UT took a 2-0 lead into the break.

In the second half, San Jose State kept its pressure on Utah Tech, outshooting them 8-3, while also earning two more corner kicks than UT.

Zack Jarvie and the Utah Tech backline continued its unblemished effort, holding the Spartans scoreless in the second half as well to complete a clean sheet.

Utah Tech won its second consecutive road match, and earned their second clean sheet of the season.

REBEL REPORT
UNLV enters Friday night's conference and regular season finale coming off of a thrilling 3-2 win at home against Air Force. Pol Izquierdo Garcia scored his first goal of the year in the 88th minute to lift the Rebels to a win in a back and forth affair.

The three points clinched a spot in the Mountain West Conference Tournament, and clinched a second place finish for the Rebels.

The Rebels are unbeaten at home this season, holding a 5-0-2 record.

Maxim Scordo paces the UNLV attack with a team and conference leading 10 goals and 23 points on the season. Hugo Lemos has started in all 17 matches this season, recording 53 saves and holding opponents to just 1.06 goals per game.

SERIES HISTORY
The all-time record is even between the two programs, standing at 3-3-1 ahead of Friday's match.

The two clubs met earlier this season in St George, which saw UNLV get two first half goals and cruise to a 2-0 victory to even the all-time series.

JARVIE EARNS DOUBLE WEEKLY CONFERENCE HONORS
Goalkeeper Zack Javie was named both Mountain West Conference Defender and Freshman of the Week, the conference announced on Monday.

Zack Jarvie recorded a career-high eight saves, en route to his second shutout of his freshman campaign in a 2-0 victory over San Jose State on Sunday, November 1. The clean sheet was Jarvie's first in Mountain west play, as well as his first conference victory.

The Lehi, Utah native has set career highs in saves in his last three starts, beginning on September 30 against Grand Canyon, notching five saves. Jarvie then followed up that performance with another start against Grand Canyon, recording seven saves.

Zack's eight saves were the most by a Trailblazer netminder this season, and the most since Luca Campoli had eight saves against California Baptist on Oct 26, 2025.

TRAILBLAZERS PICKED SIXTH IN COACHES' POLL
Utah Tech men's soccer was selected to finish 6th in the 2026 Mountain West Conference Preseason Coaches Poll, and had three players selected to the 2026 Mountain West Conference Preseason Watchlist.

Utah Tech was slotted just behind Air Force, tallying 7 total points in the preseason poll. Grand Canyon and San Jose State both tied for the lead with 22 points, but the Lopes outnumbered the Spartans in first place votes, 4-2, to claim the honors of being the preseason favorite.

Goalkeeper Luca Campoli, forward Samir Cuevas, and defender Tanner Dutra were selected to the 2026 Mountain West Conference Preseason Watchlist.

Campoli is coming off of a strong freshman campaign in 2025 where he made 12 appearances, with 11 of them coming as starts. Luca recorded 37 saves and recorded three wins, including two shutouts. Both shutouts recorded by Campoli came against now conference opponents in Air Force and UNLV. In the seven conference games Luca played in last season, he posted a 3-1-3 record while allowing just eight total goals.

Samir had a productive 2025 season when on the field for UT. In just six games, Cuevas recorded three assists and six shots on goal. This is the second year in a row that Cuevas has earned preseason recognition, as he was named to the Preseason All-WAC team in 2025. Samir enters his senior season at Utah Tech tied for seventh in game winning goals, with three.

Tanner Dutra was a solid contributor for the Trailblazers in 2025. Starting in all 17 games, he scored two goals and assisted once. Tanner played all 90 minutes in every game except one. Tanner led the team in minutes played a season ago (1,509) and helped the Trailblazers record four shutouts on the season.

2026 NON-CONFERENCE RECAP
Utah Tech posted a 1-6-1 record in the non-conference slate. Their win came in a home match against Sacramento State, where senior forward Samir Cuevas scored the game's only goal early in the second half to propel UT to a 1-0 win. To close out non-conference play, the Blazers earned a ranked draw in the "Old Hammer Rivalry" against No. 22/24 Utah Valley, 1-1.

RETURNING PRODUCTION
Utah Tech returns just nine players from a year ago. Just five of the nine returners appeared in over half of UT's matches last season. All three of the players nominated for the 2026 Mountain West Conference Preseason Watchlist return after earning postseason all-conference awards last season.

A player that was not named to the conference preseason watchlist that had a great season last year was junior forward Stetson Coy. Coy appeared in 14 matches, making five starts, and scored his first career goal in a 2-1 victory over then ranked No. 21 California Baptist. Stetson made the WAC All-Freshman Team along with Campoli and Jacob Cinelli.

NEW FACES ON THE PITCH
The Trailblazers welcome 19 newcomers to the roster for the 2026 season, including 11 freshmen.

HELLO MOUNTAIN WEST SOCCER
While Utah Tech athletics transitioned most sports to the Big Sky Conference, both baseball and men's soccer found a home in the new look Mountain West Conference. This will be the inaugural season of Mountain West men's soccer, and Utah Tech will begin conference play with a road match at Air Force on Saturday, Sept. 26. All UT men's soccer home matches and conference matches can be streamed on Mountain West Plus.
