Dixie State University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Dr. Jason Boothe announced on Monday that Tamber McAllister has resigned as head women's swimming coach to take a coaching position at BYU. McAllister returns to her alma mater as an assistant coach after three seasons with the Trailblazer program.

"Tamber has not only been an incredible coach for our swimming program, but also a wonderful leader within our group of coaches," Dr. Boothe said. "We are very disappointed that she is leaving, but also very excited for her and this opportunity.

"She did some amazing things for us and I know she will do the same for the Cougars," Boothe added. "The next coach coming in will have a tremendous opportunity to build on what Tamber has created, in a first-class facility. We wish Tamber and her family nothing but the best!"

In her first two seasons with the Trailblazers, McAllister led Dixie State to consecutive third-place showings in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, and was tabbed as RMAC Women's Swimming Coach of the Year in 2020. Meanwhile, more than 30 Trailblazers earned all-RMAC honors in two seasons in the conference.

This past season, she led DSU into its first season of NCAA Division I competition, which included one dual meet victory and a seventh place finish at the Western Athletic Conference Championships last February.

In addition, the Trailblazers got the job done in the classroom during McAllister's tenure as the DSU program was named to the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America Team each of the last five semesters, and three Trailblazers earned CSCAA honorable mention Scholar All-America honors in 2020.

DSU also had 18 student-athletes collect Academic all-RMAC honors from 2018-20, and seventeen swimmers were named to the 2021 Academic all-WAC team this past spring.

"I am grateful for the opportunity to learn, grow and become more skilled as a coach while at Dixie State," Coach McAllister said. "Thank you Dixie State Athletics for the support. It was not an easy decision to leave my athletes, we are a family and I love each one of them."

Boothe noted that a national search will begin immediately for the next head coach of the Trailblazer women's swimming program.
