Six Trailblazers scored in double figures as Dixie State pushed its winning streak to three games with a 97-65 triumph over Saint Katherine on Saturday night inside the Burns Arena.

With the win, DSU Head Coach Jon Judkins (581-279) moved to within one victory of tying legendary Utah head women's basketball coach Elaine Elliott (582-324) atop the all-time coaching victories list (men's and women's) in Utah state collegiate basketball history.

DSU (4-5) used a pair of extended first-half scoring runs, aided by eight 3-pointers, en route to a season-high 55 points and a commanding 55-31 halftime cushion.

The Blazers broke open a back-and-forth affair with a 16-3 run, which made an 11-11 deadlock into a 27-14 DSU lead with just over nine minutes to play in the frame.
Cameron Gooden got the rally started with a dunk and a jumper, while
Trevon Allfrey and
Noa Gonsalves knocked down back-to-back triples.

USK (3-4) clapped back with four-straight points to pare the deficit down to single digits. However the Trailblazers countered with an 13-2 spurt and would outscore the Firebirds 28-13 over the final 8:30 to take a 24-point lead into the locker room.

Gooden and
Hunter Schofield accounted for 11 of DSU's 13 points in the initial run, and
Andre Mulibea provided the exclamation point with 11 of the Blazers' 13 final points of the stanza with three 3-pointers.

Dixie State's lead remained north of its 24-point halftime bulge the entire second half as the Trailblazers rolled to their fourth home win of the young season.

Schofield paced the Blazers with 16 points on 6-of-8 shooting to go with a co-team high seven rebounds. Gooden finished with 14 points, while
Dancell Leter added 13 points and seven boards. Mulibea scored all 11 of his points in the first half, and
Frank Staine also chipped in 11 points with three treys.

DSU shot a season-high 57.6 percent (34-of-59) from the floor with a season-best 11 3-pointers (11-of-27; .407 – season-high). The Blazers also connected on 18-of-24 (.750) from the foul line and outrebounded the Firebirds by a 39-28 count.

Tavon Tarpley led all scorers with 18 points and pulled down six rebounds for Saint Katherine. The Firebirds hit on 27-of-65 (.415) of their shot attempts, including a 4-of-16 (.250) effort from beyond the arc.
Dixie State will continue its homestand next Saturday night against the University of Denver. Tip-off inside the Burns Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m.
