Dixie State swimming collected three event wins and broke one school record in a dual meet at in-state foe BYU on Saturday in Provo.
The Blazers' school record performance came in the first individual event of the meet, the 1,650-yard freestyle, where freshman
Paulina Sansores touched the wall in second place with an altitude-adjusted time of 17:32.85. Meanwhile, sophomore
Jessica Schab posted the ninth-fastest time in program history in the same race with a fourth-place 17:56.92 (altitude adjusted).
All three of Dixie State's event wins came in the final three races, starting with the 500 free, where freshman
Emily Schexnayder claimed victory with a time of 5:20.06 (altitude adjusted), while sophomore
Gabbie Adams followed in second at 5:24.15 (altitude adjusted).
DSU then swept the top-four spots in the 100 breast as sophomore
Skyler Lyon led the way with an event-winning time of 1:06.71 (altitude adjusted), with fellow sophomores
Kathryn Carter (1:07.93 – AA) and
Madelyne Moulton (1:09.74 – AA) and Sansores (1:10.66 – AA) following close behind.
Then in the final event of the dual, the 200 free relay, the team of freshman
Talia Thomas, sophomore
Akalia Bostock, Adams and freshman
Mandy Farnum touched the wall in 1:39.89 to earn the win.
Dixie State will close out the 2021 portion of its season slate by hosting the DSU Trailblazer Invitational, which will be held Nov. 18-20, at the DSU HPC Pool.
