Dixie State University Director of Intercollegiate Athletics
Dr. Jason Boothe announced Saturday that
Steve Golas has stepped down after one season as head women's soccer coach.
"We are grateful for Steve's time here and wish him well," Dr. Boothe said. "We will start a nationwide search immediately to find our next Head Coach to lead the team into our [NCAA] Division-I transition."
In his lone season on the DSU sideline, Golas led the Trailblazers to a 12-4-6 overall record and to its second-ever NCAA Division II Tournament appearance, where the Blazers won their first NCAA South Central Regional championship and advanced all the way to the "Elite Eight."
Dixie State netted a school record 56 goals last season and finished the year ranked eighth in the final United Soccer Coaches' Top-25 national poll.
Boothe has appointed current DSU assistant coach
Paul Kimbrough as interim head coach while a national search is conducted for the head coach of the Trailblazer women's soccer program.
