Dixie State clinched a split of its season-opening Texas road trip with a 1-0 result at Dallas Baptist Saturday night at Patriot Soccer Field.
The Trailblazers (1-1-0) netted the lone goal of the match in the 26
th-minute when
Guglielmo Bianchi booted home a
Raul Ruiz feed for DSU's first goal of the season. DSU defense made that one-goal advantage stand as the unit limited DBU (0-1-0) to 12 total shots in the match, while senior netminder
Zach Nielson was up to the task in goal as he made six saves en route to his eighth-career shutout win. Nielson also collected his 22nd win in goal, which moved him into first place on DSU's career GK wins list.
Dixie State returns home for a four-match homestand at Trailblazer Stadium, beginning with a date vs. Eastern New Mexico on Friday, Sept. 13 at 7:30 p.m., before a match-up against Texas A&M-International on Sunday, Sept. 15 at 1:30 p.m.
