Trailblazers defeat CSU-Pueblo Friday, 6-1

Dixie State women's tennis opened its two-match Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference trip on Friday with a 6-1 defeat of CSU-Pueblo at East High School in Pueblo, Colorado.

The Trailblazers (10-2, 2-0 RMAC) needed only one doubles win to claim the point, as the Thunderwolves were shorthanded and couldn't field a team at the No. 3 position. Dixie State won both doubles matches, as Yolena Carlon and Isabel Heras claimed a 6-4 win at No. 1, and Kyra Harames and Megan Lynch grabbed a 6-2 decision at No. 2.

Dixie State continued the run into singles play. Harames set the tone with a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 1, while Lynch battled to a 6-3, 7-6 victory at No. 3. Lloyd rallied for a 1-6, 6-2, 6-2 triumph at No. 4, while Hattie Erekson did the same for a 4-6, 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 4. DSU picked up the final singles point by default, as CSU-Pueblo did not enter a player at No. 6.

The Trailblazers now head to Denver for an RMAC showdown on Saturday at 10 a.m. against MSU Denver. With a win, Dixie State can lock up the No. 1 seed in the upcoming RMAC tournament.
