OPENING TIP: Dixie State (18-8/16-6 RMAC) will host its first-ever RMAC postseason tournament game this Tuesday night as the No. 2-seeded Trailblazers welcome in No. 7-seed New Mexico Highlands (19-9/14-6 RMAC) to the Burns Arena. Tip-off is slated for 7 p.m. Live stats and video links for Tuesday's quarterfinal game can be found on DSU's official website - www.dixiestateathletics.com.
    The DSU/NMHU winner will move on to the RMAC Tournament semifinals and finals, which will be played this Friday and Saturday (site and times TBA).

THE REST OF THE TOURNEY FIELD: RMAC regular season champion Colorado School of Mines (24-4/21-1 RMAC) is the top-seed in this week's conference tournament and will host No. 8-seed Adams State (11-16/11-11 RMAC) in one of the three other conference tournament quarterfinal games to be played on Tuesday.
    The two other quarterfinal match-ups feature No. 3 seed Regis (19-9/16-6 RMAC) hosting No. 6 seed Colorado-Colorado Springs (17-11/14-8 RMAC), and No. 4 seed Black Hills State (16-10/15-7 RMAC) playing host to No. 5 Colorado Mesa (19-9/14-8 RMAC).

THE SERIES: Dixie State claimed the first meeting between the Trailblazers and Cowboys on the basketball court, an 83-65 home victory in DSU's RMAC home debut back on Dec. 18. The Trailblazers, who held NMHU nearly 30 points below its season average, used an 18-6 run to jump out to a double-digit first half lead, then scored nine-straight points to open the second period and never looked back en route to the 18-point victory over the then-RMAC co-leaders.

DIXIE STATE ON THE AIR: All Dixie State home games are broadcast live on DSU's campus radio station, 91.3 KXDS-FM, with DSU Assistant Media Relations Coordinator Keric Seegmiller calling the play-by-play action and former DSU assistant coach Mike Olson providing color commentary.
    Along with the radio coverage, all DSU home games are simulcast on KCEC-TV (TDS Cable Channel 22), with tape-delay rebroadcasts throughout the following week.

LAST TIME OUT: Dixie State closed the 2018-19 regular winners of 13-straight and clinched the No. 2-seed in this week's RMAC tourney thanks to a 64-51 triumph over in-state rival Westminster College last Friday night in the Burns Arena.
    DSU outscored the Griffins 20-9 to close the first half, then opened the second frame with a decisive 15-4 run en route to a 49-30 lead with 13 minutes to play. The Blazers would extend that advantage to as many as 24 points and cruised home from there to push their win streak to a "Baker's Dozen."

REGIONAL/NATIONAL RANKINGS: Despite its current winning streak, Dixie State did not receive votes in either of the NABC or D2SIDA national polls last week. However the Trailblazers were ranked 10th in the final D2SIDA South Central Regional poll released two weeks ago.
    The second official NCAA South Central Regional poll was released last Wednesday (2/27) and DSU remained at No. 8, while Colorado School of Mines stayed at No. 3 and Colorado Mesa was listed one spot below the Trailblazers at No. 9.

COACHING STAFF: Six-time PacWest Conference Coach of the Year Jon Judkins (Utah State, 1988; 546-253 career record) is in his 14th season on the Dixie State bench, where he has compiled a 262-125 overall record, including a 242-113 mark during DSU's NCAA Division II era.
    With DSU's current 18-8 overall record, Judkins has now led the Trailblazers to 11-straight winning seasons with seven 20-win campaigns, which includes a school-record 23 victories last season, and 22 wins during both the 2010-11 and 2012-13 seasons. He also guided DSU to six PacWest championships, including four-straight titles from 2009-13 and two more crowns last season and in 2014-15, along with PacWest Tournament titles in 2013 and 2018. In addition, Judkins has led Dixie State to eight trips to the NCAA Tournament in the last nine seasons overall from 2010-18, advancing all the way to the "Sweet 16" in the 2011 West Regional final.
    Prior to his arrival at Dixie State, Judkins served as head coach at Snow College for 12 full seasons and posted a 284-128 overall record. He led the Badgers to a pair of Scenic West Athletic Conference titles in 1999 and 2000, which earned him SWAC Coach of the Year honors. Judkins played for one season at Dixie State before transferring to Utah State, where he became the first (and only) Aggie to post a triple-double. During the 1987-88 season, he helped lead the Aggies to the PCAA title and an NCAA Tournament bid.
    Judkins is joined on the bench again this season by former DSU player and sixth-year assistant coach Kasey Winters (Dixie State, 2008), along with former DSU standout guard Jeremiah Barnes (Dixie State, 2011), who is in his second season on the DSU sideline, and second-year volunteer assistant coach David Foster (Utah, 2013).

CAREER GAME NO. 800 FOR JUDKINS TUESDAY NIGHT: Coach Judkins will reach another milestone when the Trailblazers take the court Tuesday night as he will coach in 800th-career collegiate game. Judkins has coached 387 of those games at DSU, including 355 NCAA-era contests (along with 32 NJCAA in 2005-06), and 412 games in 12 seasons while at Snow College. 

546 AND COUNTING: Coach Judkins became the first men's coach in Utah collegiate basketball history to reach the 500-win plateau when Dixie State defeated Hawai'i Hilo (81-72) back on January 28, 2017.
    Coach Judkins (546 wins) is currently second all-time in coaching victories in Utah college basketball history behind legendary University of Utah head women's coach Elaine Elliott, who amassed 582 career wins (582-234) in 27 seasons on the Utes' sideline. In addition, current Salt Lake CC head women's basketball coach Betsy Specketer is third all-time with 545 career victories (545-195) in 22-plus seasons on the Bruins' bench.

NO HOLIDAY HANGOVER: Once again Dixie State has started a new year on fire as the Trailblazers opened 2019 winners of 14 of 16 games, including their current season-high 13-game winning streak. Ten of those 14 victories have been by double-digits, while the Trailblazers' average margin of victory in those 14 wins is 17.6 ppg, bolstered by their season sweep of Colorado Christian by a combined 68 points (84-48, 1/18; 87-55, 2/23), along with their 33-point victory at Adams State (2/15), and a 31-point home triumph vs. MSU Denver (69-38, 1/11).  
    Under Coach Judkins, DSU has played to a whopping 158-46 (.774) overall record during the final two months of the regular season in the program's NCAA era (12-plus seasons), highlighted by a regular-season school-record 15-game winning streak (17-straight including postseason) to close the 2017-18 campaign en route to the program's sixth PacWest title.

"WE'RE GOING STREAKING!": Dixie State's current 13-game winning streak is now tied for the second-longest streak in the program's NCAA era. DSU also won 13-straight in 2011-12, to complement its school record 17-game win streak from last season.

RAREFIED AIR: Dixie State's game at Adams State's Plachy Hall Gym (7,543) back on Feb. 15, marked the third time this season that the Trailblazers played a game above 7,200 feet above sea level.
    DSU also played in highest NCAA Division I athletic facility this season, that being Wyoming's Arena-Auditorium (7,220) on Dec. 29, and played inside Western Colorado's Paul Wright Gym, which is listed as the highest NCAA athletic venue in the nation at 7,723 feet, this past Jan. 26. In all, nine of DSU's 13 road games this season were played above 5,280 feet, with five of those locations listed above 6,000 feet in elevation.

HOME SWEET HOME: Dixie State has clinched its 12th-straight home winning season record in 13 seasons of NCAA competition. Since becoming an NCAA Division II program in 2006-07, Dixie State has played to a 123-26 (.825) overall record inside the Burns Arena under Head Coach Jon Judkins, which includes an 11-3 (9-2 RMAC) mark this year.
    With its home win over CCU on Feb. 23, DSU has now posted eight 10-plus win seasons during its four-year era, highlighted by a perfect 12-0 record in 2009-10, and 11-1 records in the 2015-16 and 2016-17 campaigns. Dixie State played to a 9-1 home record last season - all of which came in PacWest play,
    The Trailblazers closed out their PacWest membership with a dominant 87-12 (.878) record at home in 99 home conference games played over 11 seasons.

HOME SWEET HOME, PART 2: For the ninth-straight year, Dixie State's men's basketball program finished ranked in the top-10 nationally at the NCAA Division II level in attendance for the 2017-18 season.
    The Trailblazers posted the ninth-highest total attendance number in the country at 26,309 fans in just 10 home dates, which was also second in the Pacific West Conference and the NCAA West Region. In addition, DSU finished second-nationally in season attendance average at 2,630 fans per game, behind only Northern (SD) State, which led the nation in both total attendance (55,980/15 games) and attendance average (3,732).
    Since the 2008-09 season, Dixie State has been annually ranked in the top-15 in Division II in attendance, including second-overall in 2012-13 and 2013-14, and third in the country in 2010-11 and 2011-12 campaigns. DSU was also ranked fourth-overall last year, fifth in 2014-15, sixth in 2015-16, ninth in 2009-10, and 14th in 2008-09.
    Dixie State also finished sixth among Utah's eight NCAA member institutions in average attendance in 2017-18, behind Brigham Young (227,692/14,230 per game), Utah (199,077/11,710), Utah State (104,159/6,943), Weber State (101,683/6,778) and Utah Valley (58,027/3,413). However, DSU did finish well ahead of Southern Utah (33,518/2,394) and Westminster College (4,345/289).

HOME SWEET HOME, PART 3: Dixie State, which leads the RMAC in home attendance (33,855; 2,418 per game), played in front of a season-high 4,257 fans in its 69-38 victory over MSU Denver inside the Burns Arena this past Jan. 11. The announced crowd was the fifth-highest Dixie State home game attendance number in the program's NCAA era and the sixth-highest attended regular season game overall. DSU also played in front of an announced crowd of 4,185 (#6 all-time in DSU's NCAA era) vs. CMU back on Feb. 9.
    The school record for home attendance is 4,602 set against BYU-Hawaii during the 2012-13 season (2/23/13), while the most fans to see a DSU regular season contest came in a road game at Utah (9,616) on Jan. 9, 2008. 

HOW ABOUT WHEN THE BAGS ARE PACKED?: Thanks to winning its final six regular season road games, Dixie State improved to 120-88 (.577) in 208 games away from home in its Division II era under Head Coach Jon Judkins. Overall, the Trailblazers have played to a 96-67 record (.589) in true road games, and a 24-21 mark (.533) in neutral site games during Judkins' tenure.
    The Trailblazers, who posted a 7-5 regular season road mark this year, were a combined 14-6 as road warriors last season, including a 10-4 road mark to go with a 4-2 record in neutral-site games. DSU has won eight or more games away from home in nine-straight seasons, and in 10 of its 12 D-II campaigns overall, including a program-best 15-5 record (10-2 in road contests) in 2010-11.
    Dixie State also finished with a 69-30 (.697) road record in its 11 seasons of PacWest league membership (9-1 last season/7-3 in 2016-17).

RELEASE...ROTATION...SPLASH: Dating back to late in the 2016-17 season, Dixie State has hit at least one 3-pointer in 58-straight games, including a school record-tying 13 treys at Colorado Mesa (1/25), followed by 10 more trifectas the next night at Western Colorado (1/26). That feat marked the first time in the program's NCAA era that Dixie State had made 10 or more 3-pointers in back-to-back games. DSU also drilled 11 treys vs. Regis this past Feb. 22.  
    In all, Dixie State has hit at least one three pointer in 259 of its last 261 games overall, and in 353 of the program's 357 NCAA-era games since the beginning of the 2006-07 season.
    Dixie State has reached double-figures in made 3-pointers 16 times overall, highlighted by a single-game 3FGM school record of 13 first set at Carroll College on Nov. 11, 2008.

FROM WAY DOWNTOWN....BANG: Also of note, the Trailblazers surrendered an opponent school-record 21 3-pointers in the win at Western Colorado (1/26). WCU's 21 treys broke the previous record of 18 set by Chaminade (18-of-40) back on Jan. 5, 2008, in Honolulu.
    In addition, WCU's 49 3-point attempts easily eclipsed the previous DSU-opponent single-game record of 41 first set by Hawai'i Hilo (14-of-41; 1/21/16 in Hilo) and tied nearly a year later by Point Loma (14-of-41; 12/19/16 in San Diego).

DEFENSE (CLAP CLAP) DEFENSE: Dixie State enjoyed arguably its finest overall defensive performance in program history in its 31-point win over MSU Denver back on Jan. 11. DSU held the Roadrunners to opponent single-game record lows of 11 made field goals and a 21.2 percent field goal percentage (11-of-52), which included a 6-of-28 (.214) clip in the first half and a 5-of-24 (.208) effort in the second half.
    Prior to that, the previous record low for opponent made field goals was 15 set four different times, with the last occasion coming during the 2016-17 season (at Academy of Art, 1/5/17), while the Roadrunners' shooting percentage eclipsed the previous DSU opponent record low of 23.8 percent posted by Pacifica College (15-of-63) in a 110-41 Dixie State home win during the 2010-11 season (12/4/10).
    In addition, the 38 points surrendered also broke Dixie State's NCAA-era opponent single game low of 40 points set in an 84-40 home win over Dominican University on Feb. 11, 2010.
    Heading into Tuesday night's RMAC quarterfinal game, Dixie State leads the RMAC in scoring defense (66.8 ppg - 24th in NCAA DII), FG% defense (.394 - 7th in NCAA DII), and 3FG% defense (.324 - 35th in NCAA DII).

BLOCK PARTY: Dixie State reached double figures in blocked shots for the first time in its NCAA era with a school record 10 rejections in its win over Regis back on Feb. 22. The 10 blocks eclipsed the previous record of nine set during the 2012-13 season against both Fresno Pacific (2/5/13) and BYU-Hawaii and Fresno Pacific (2/23/13).
    Julien Ducree led the block party with a career-high six blocks, which was one off the school record of seven set by former DSU All-American Zach Robbins nearly six years to the day vs. BYU Hawaii (2/23/13), and were the most in a single game since Robbins rejected five shots at Point Loma (12/4/14).

CLIMBING UP THE CHARTS THE CON-WAY: Matt Conway has been on a roll during DSU's current winning streak, averaging 19.2 points on 57.5 percent (84-of-146) shooting, including 19-of-42 3FG (.452), and 64-of-86 (.744) at the line.
    Conway has scored in double figures in 12 of DSU's 13 wins during the streak with six 20-plus point outings, highlighted by a career-high 34 points at Adams State (2/15) and 22 more points the next night at Fort Lewis (2/16) en route to RMAC Offensive Player of the Week honors (2/18).
    Conway's 34 points at ASU eclipsed his previous career-high of 33 points, which also came on the road in the win at Western Colorado (1/26), and was one point shy of tying DSU's NCAA era single game record of 35 points set by former DSU All-American guard Trevor Hill in a win last season vs. Eastern New Mexico (11/17/17).
    Conway has scored in double figures in 22 of 26 regular season games overall with 11 20-plus point outings and has led DSU in scoring 15 times, including a game-high 25 points in the home win over Regis (2-22). His 17.8 ppg average to this point of the year is second behind current DSU Associate Head Coach Kasey Winters (17.9 ppg/2007-08) on both the DSU NCAA-era single season and career PPG scoring lists, and is good for fifth in the RMAC (119th nationally).
    Conway scored 10 points in the win over Westminster last Friday to vault into second place on DSU's single season scoring list with 463 points, passing both Zach Robbins (454, 2014-15) and Hill (456, 2017-18) on the list. In addition, he needs just 22 more points to move past Winters (484 pts) to become DSU's NCAA-era single season points leader.   
    The junior has also gone to the foul line 172 times (132-of-172; 6.6 FTApg) and is shooting 76.7 percent (No. 9 all-time on DSU's career FT% list) at the stripe ... his 172 FTA and 132 FTM ranks him fourth and fifth, respectively, on both DSU's single season lists, and he is currently ranked 31st and 40th in the nation, respectively, in each FT category.  
* - Additionally, Conway enters this weekend as DSU's single-season leader in 3FG% (.477, 31-of-65), and he is ranked sixth in FGM (150) and t-ninth in rebounds/game (6.7 rpg).

TEAM NOTES:
* - Since his insertion into the starting line-up 15 games ago, Andre Wilson has averaged 6.2 points and has scored in double figures in five of those starts, highlighted by a career-high 16 points on 4-of-8 from the floor (3-of-4 3FG) and 5-of-7 at the line vs. Chadron State (1/12).
* - Wilson posted a road season-high 14 points at Western Colorado (1/26), which included the game-tying bucket with 4.0 seconds to play in regulation ... Wilson also poured with 13 points (9-of-11 FT) at Regis (1/19) and tallied 11 points with three assists at CMU (1/25) ... Wilson has scored in double figures in six of his last 16 outings overall.
*- Zach Frampton poured in a career-high 17 points on 5-of-10 shooting (3-of-6 3FG) with a career-best seven rebounds along with four assists in the win over Regis (2/22) ... that effort came on the heels of the sophomore guard hitting a career-high four 3-pointers as part of a 14-point, five-rebound night in the road win at Adams State (2/15) ... Frampton also picked off a career-best four steals to go with six points, five boards and three dimes in the Western win (2/8), then went for 12 points the next night vs. CMU (2/9) ... Frampton enters the week as the team leader in steals (38, 1.5 - T-6th in RMAC/T-187th in NCAA DII) and is second in assists (63, 2.4 apg).
* - Since his return from injury 15 games ago, Jack Pagenkopf is averaging 7.4 points and 3.2 assists ... Pagenkopf has scored in double figures on seven of those occasions, including an 11-point night on 5-of-7 shooting with four boards and two steals vs. Westminster last Friday.
* - Julien Ducree had himself quite the homestand last month as the senior forward averaged 13.5 points and 6.0 rebounds over the four games, including a career-high 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting with six boards in the Adams State (2/2) win ... Ducree also tallied a game-high 14 points on 7-of-12 shooting against Western (2/8), then just missed his second double-double of the year with 13 points (on 6-of-9 shooting) and nine caroms vs. CMU (2/9).
* - Ducree is averaging 10.1 ppg and 4.7 rpg over his last 21 games, including 10.8 ppg and 5.1 rpg clip since moving into the starting line-up 13 games ago ... the senior tallied game-highs of 13 points, eight boards, two blocks and four steals (career-high) on "Senior Night" vs. Westminster last Friday.
* - Ducree has also recorded at least one blocked shot in 18 of his 25 outings this season, highlighted by his career-high six blocks vs. Regis (2/22) ... he is now seventh on DSU's single season blocks list (29) and fifth on DSU's career list (45).
* - Since becoming DSU's sixth-man after starting the first 13 games of the season, senior Dub Price is averaging 9.0 ppg on an even 50.0 percent shooting (42-of-84) to go with 4.5 rpg over his last 12 games off the bench ... Price got the start on "Senior Night" vs. Westminster and tallied six points and four rebounds in 14 foul-plagued minutes.
* - Senior guard Wade Miller just missed scoring in double figures for the eighth time this season (and 10th time in his career) after he tallied nine points on 3-of-7 from the perimeter vs. Westminster last Friday ... Meanwhile, senior forward Quincy Mathews hit on 3-of-5 from the floor for six points with two boards and an assist vs. the Griffins.
* - DSU's bench topped the 40-point plateau for the fifth time this season and just the eighth time overall since January of 2015 with a season-high 58 points in the win over Colorado Christian (2/23) ... in fact, DSU reserves outscored the CCU bench 58-20.
* - Cameron Chatwin led four Blazers in double figures with 15 points in the CCU win ... Chatwin hit on 5-of-6 from the floor and 5-of-6 at the line ... additionally, Josh Newbold tallied career-highs of 12 points (on 4-of-7 shooting), five rebounds, two assists and two steals in just 10 minutes vs. the Cougars ... Price and Dason Youngblood also chipped in eight points apiece, while Jacob Nicolds added a career-best five points in nine minutes.  
* - In all, the DSU bench is averaging 27.7 ppg through 26 games this season, and the Blazer reserves have outscored their opponent's reserves in 19 of those 26 dates, including a 34-5 clip at Adams State (2/15).
* - Dating back to the 2016-17 season, Dixie State has had 44 of its last 83 games decided by nine points or less, including 14 of 30 games last year and only 10 of 26 games this season.
* - Also dating back to 2016-17, Dixie State has shot 50 percent or better in 27 of its last 77 games overall, including eight games this season, highlighted by a season-high .591 clip (26-of-44) at Colorado School of Mines (1/5), and 50.8 percent (30-of-59) vs. Regis (2/22).
* - DSU shot 50 percent or better eight times last season, with seven of those occasions coming on the road.
* - DSU was held to a paltry 22.2 percent clip (6-of-27) in the first half against MSUD (1/11) ... however the Trailblazers bounced back in a big way in the second 20-minute period as DSU went 16-of-20 (.800) from the floor, including 6-of-7 from the perimeter, to outscore the Roadrunners 50-20 en route to its 31-point win.
* - Though DSU just missed cracking the top-10 with its 31-point triumph vs. MSUD, the 36-point win at CCU (1/18) tied for the fifth-largest margin of victory, and is the largest road margin of victory, in the program's NCAA era ... DSU also posted a 36-point win at home vs. Chaminade during the 2016-17 season (102-66; 2/4/17).
* - Meanwhile, the 33-point triumph at Adams State (2/15) is tied for 10th on DSU's single season margin of victory list ... DSU has posted four 30-plus point wins overall this season, which are the most in the program's NCAA era.  
* - Dixie State broke an NCAA-era program record for lowest FT% in the win over Western (2/8) as the Trailblazers hit on just 3-of-14 (.214) at the "charity" stripe, which included an 0-of-9 effort in the second half ... DSU did come back the next night vs. CMU and connect on 31-of-43 (.721) at the line.   
* - DSU shot a season-best 87.5 percent night (14-of-16) at BHSU (12/8) ... the 87.5 percent clip at the line at BHSU was DSU's highest FT% in more than two seasons (74 games), and was the best since DSU connected on 87.1 percent (27-of-31) in a road win at Chaminade (1/23/16) during the 2015-16 campaign.
* - DSU attempted a season-high 45 free throws at Western Colorado (1/26) and shot 71.1 overall (32-of-40) ... the 32 made free throws, also a season-high, helped negate Western's 21 made 3-pointers (out of 28 total FG makes).
* - On the flipside, DSU was held to a season-low six total free throws (4-of-6) at Fort Lewis (2/16) ... the four FTA were the lowest since the Blazers attempted seven FTs in a home win vs. Holy Names (2/25/17) late in the 2016-17 season ... the DSU single-game record low for FTA is four set in a neutral-site loss to Texas A&M-Commerce (11/29/14) during the 2014-15 campaign.  
* - DSU has won the "Battle of the Boards" in 19 of 26 games this season and in 42 of its last 53 games dating back to last year ... Dixie State was +12 in rebounding vs. Regis (2/22) and a school record +36 vs. CCU (58-22, 2/23), including a 20-3 count on the offensive glass, which marked the eighth time this season that the Trailblazers posted a double-digit advantage on the boards ... the 58 total rebounds vs. CCU are also the third-most in the program's NCAA-era.
* - The team's rebounding margin (+5.6, 2nd in RMAC/32nd in NCAA D-II) received a huge boost in the NMHU win (12/14) as the Trailblazers outrebounded the Cowboys by a 55-25 count ... the 55-rebound night tied for the seventh-best single game total in DSU's NCAA era.
* - DSU currently leads the RMAC in rebounding (39.3 rpg - T-42nd in NCAA D-II) and defensive rebounds (28.8 rpg - 16th in NCAA D-II).  
* - Price (376) is in sixth place on DSU's career rebounding list, and Mathews (372) follows closely behind in seventh place all-time.
* - Dixie State picked off 10 steals in the win over Westminster last Friday, including a career-high four steals by Ducree ... DSU collected a season-high 14 steals in its overtime road win at Western Colorado (1/26).

ABOUT THE NEW MEXICO HIGHLANDS "COWBOYS": New Mexico Highlands comes to St. George Tuesday night winners of three-straight to close the regular season with a 19-9 overall record (14-8 RMAC). The Cowboys are the RMAC's top scoring team at 87.2 ppg and average a league-best 10.5 3FGM per game, though they are 13th-overall in scoring defense (81.4 ppg).
    NMHU's 1-2 punch of Gerad Davis (Sr., G, 6-4) and Raquan Mitchell (Jr., G, 6-3) are third (20.8 ppg) and fourth (19.5 ppg), respectively, in the conference in scoring, while Mitchell is the RMAC leader in 3FGM (90, 3.2 3FGMpg).

    The winner of the RMAC Tournament championship will earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2019 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament South Central Regionals, which will be held on March 16-19.
