Trailblazers edge Holy Names Saturday, 4-3

The Dixie State women's tennis team improved to 2-1 on its current trip on Saturday with a 4-3 win over Holy Names in Oakland, California.
 
The Trailblazers (8-2) earned the crucial doubles point to build an early 1-0 lead. Kyra Harames and Megan Lynch battled for a 6-4 victory at the No. 2 spot, while Hattie Erekson and Juliana Honczaruk cruised to a 6-1 triumph at No. 3.
 
DSU extended its lead to 2-0 without a single serve in singles play due to a Holy Names retirement in the No. 2 spot. Needing just two more wins to clinch the match, Erekson posted a 6-0, 7-5 win at No. 6, while Yolena Carlon rallied for a 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 1 to wrap up the win.
 
Dixie State will close its California trip on Sunday with a 10 a.m. Pacific Time (11 a.m. MT) matchup against UC Santa Cruz.
