Dixie State saw its five-match winning streak come to an end in a straight-set loss at No. 9-ranked Regis Friday night inside the Regis Fieldhouse. The setback dropped the Trailblazers to 17-7 overall, 12-4 in RMAC play.
However DSU is still in third place in the conference standings by one game on both Colorado Mesa (11-5) and Colorado School of Mines (11-5). CMU lost at home in five sets to Mines on Friday night to fall into that tie for fourth with the Orediggers.Â
Tied at 14-14 in the opening set, the Rangers (22-3/15-1 RMAC) scored nine-straight points as part of an 11-2 run to race to a 25-16 win, then used a 9-2 spurt to close the second frame en route to a 25-15 triumph and a 2-0 lead in the match.

To'a Faleao kill and a
Mykenna Nelson ace gave DSU a 21-19 lead. After a Regis timeout, the Rangers scored six of the final eight points of the set to clinch the match with a 25-23 win.
Faleao finished with a team-high 10 kills to go with nine digs and one block assist, while
Sydney Johnson added six kills. DSU was held to a season-low .074 hitting percentage and had just 30 kills on the night.
Nikki Kennedy led the Rangers with a match-high 13 kills, while Caitlyn Burroway tallied 12 kills, as Regis hit .307 for the match.
Dixie State will now travel to Lakewood for a match at Colorado Christian on Saturday night beginning at 7 p.m.
