To'a Faleao made the most of her senior night as she threw down a career-high 21 kills, while junior
Megan Treanor posted her third triple-double of the season, to lead Dixie State volleyball to a 3-1 victory over CSU-Pueblo Saturday inside the DSU Student Activities Center. With the win, the Trailblazers clinched a berth into the upcoming RMAC postseason tournament and pushed their winning streak to five-straight to improve to 17-6 overall, 12-3 in RMAC play.
Faleao tallied seven kills in each of the first two sets, including three kills in a 6-1 run that closed a 25-20 DSU set one victory. CSUP (12-13/9-7 RMAC) answered with a 25-23 win in set two to square the match at 1-1, but the Blazers managed to wrestle away any ThunderWolf momentum with six-straight points as part of an 11-3 run to regain the match lead with a 25-17 triumph in set three.
Dixie State jumped out to a quick 5-1 advantage in set four, only to see the ThunderWolves counter with a 10-4 spurt of their own to vault to an 11-9 lead. DSU countered with four-straight points and would slowly pull away for a 25-18 set win to close out the match.
Faleao hit .306 on the night and would add 15 digs, five block assists and three aces to her final stat line in her final regular season home match. The senior bested her previous career-high of 18 kills set earlier this season in a home win over South Dakota Mines (9/21).
Meanwhile Treanor tallied 13 kills, 25 assists and 12 digs en route to her second triple-double in RMAC play and the third triple-double in program history overall. Senior
Lauren Gammell added nine kills with five blocks assists, while junior
Jordyn Nelson notched her team-leading 11
th double-double of the year with a game-high 26 assists and 11 digs.
Dixie State hit .227 for the match with 60 kills, while the Blazers limited CSUP to a .148 attack percentage and 44 kills thanks to eight total team blocks and 74 digs, including a game-high 16 digs for freshman
Mykenna Nelson.
Dixie State now heads out on its final road swing of the 2019 regular season, which begins at current RMAC leader No. 10 Regis in Denver next Friday night, Nov. 8. DSU will also play at Colorado Christian the following night, Nov. 9, in Lakewood.
