Dixie State broke four more school standards and recorded 10 top-10 all-time marks on day three at the 2018 Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Championships at the Splash Aquatics Center.
Through three rounds of competition, Dixie State stands in 10
th-place overall in the 13-team field with 318 points. UC San Diego remains on top with 1177.5 points, followed by Fresno Pacific (850 pts) in second place, Cal State East Bay (739 pts) in third, Azusa Pacific (665 pts) in fourth and Pepperdine (495 pts) in fifth.
Sophomore
Hannah Hansen (Lehi, Utah/Lehi HS) collected her second school record in as many days and posted Dixie State's best individual finish to this point of the meet, doing so with a sixth-place showing in the 100-yard breaststroke in a record time of 1:04.03. Hansen, who also broke the 200 IM standard on Thursday, had broken the 100 breast record earlier in the day with a preliminary heat time of 1:04.85, while freshman
Hannah Bodkin (Salem, Ore./West Salem HS) followed in ninth-overall at 1:05.85 (#5 all-time at DSU), which was DSU's third top-10 individual finish on the week.
Freshman
Megan Ruppenthal (Goodyear, Ariz./Desert Edge HS) also notched her second school record at the meet as she broke her own standard in the 200 freestyle with a 13
th-place 1:54.32. Fellow freshman
Mycah Ellis (Hillsboro, Ore./Hillsboro HS) also got into the act, breaking her own 400 IM mark with a preliminary heat time of 4:43.12, while she placed 14
th-overall in the final with a 4:43.26 (#2 all-time at DSU).
The Trailblazers wrapped day three up with their fourth top-10 relay finish as the 400 medley relay tandem of freshman
Anna Ward (Signal Mountain, Tenn./Girls Preparatory School), Bodkin, Hansen and freshman
Miriam Gonzalez (Murrieta, Calif./Vista Murrieta HS) teamed up to break the school record in that event with a seventh-place time of 3:53.56.
Dixie State, which has posted nine school record marks over the first three rounds, will look to add to its school record total in Saturday's final round beginning at 9:30 a.m. (PT).
