Men’s Soccer Comes Up Short at MSU Billings Friday, 1-0

Trailblazers lose despite outshooting Yellowjackets

Dixie State remained winless to start the 2016 season as the Trailblazers found themselves on the short end of a 1-0 result at Montana State Billings in the second game of the MSUB-hosted Rimrock Men's Soccer Classic Friday afternoon.

The Yellowjackets (1-2-0) scored the lone goal of the match at the 22:01 mark of the first half when Thiago Novis tucked home an Ignacio Crespo cross from the right corner. Dixie State (0-3-0) had four shots on frame in the opening stanza and finished with six shots on goal for the match, but could not net with the equalizer in regulation time.

DSU outshot MSUB 11-9 in the match, with senior Hunter Ketterer (Heber City, Utah/Wasatch HS), junior Ather Dawood (Tucson, Ariz.) and freshman Moises Medina (Mesquite, Nev./Virgin Valley HS) collecting two shots apiece. Senior netminder Bradley Trella (Chandler, Ariz./Chandler HS) stopped three of the four Yellowjacket shots he faced on goal.

DSU will face wrap up its season-opening four-match road swing with a game vs. the University of Mary this Sunday, Sept. 11, in Billings beginning at 1 p.m.
