Dixie State (11-5, 8-2 PacWest) will travel to face No. 17 Azusa Pacific (16-2, 9-1) on Saturday afternoon (3 p.m. PT, 4 p.m. MT) in a Pacific West showdown at the Felix Event Center. The Storm seeks to continue its undefeated record in the all-time series with the Cougars (5-0). APU and Dixie State battled to into overtime on Jan. 14 in the Burns Arena with the Storm winning 97-91.

Dixie State has won four straight PacWest matchups powered by four players averaging double figures. DeQuan Thompson (Las Vegas, NV/Lake Mead Christian Academy) is scoring 18.8 PPG shooting better than 46 percent from the arc. Zach Robbins (Upland, CA/Upland) posts 17.8 PPG, 6.0 RPG and has eight blocks. Mark Ogden Jr. (Spring Valley, CA/Steele Canyon) is at 15.3 PPG and a team-best 6.5 RPG. Mason Sawyer (West Jordan, UT/West Jordan) is scoring 14.5 PPG and has dished out 25 assists during the streak. Dixie State is averaging 27 made free throws as a team at a 78.8 percent clip.
AZUSA PACIFIC AT A GLANCE
APU head coach Justin Leslie has led the Cougars to a 15-2 overall record, including an 8-1 mark in PacWest play entering play this week and a spotless 5-0 record at the Felix Event Center. The Cougars fell four spots after their road loss to DSU in the NABC Division II National Poll to #17. Senior guard Troy Leaf enters the week as the PacWest's leading scorer (22.8 PPG) after dropping 39 against the Storm. Senior guard Robert Sandoval (10.8 PPG) also averages in double figures.Â
ON THE ROAD AGAIN
Dixie State opens a portion of its PacWest schedule where it will play four consecutive road games. Following Saturday's game at Azusa Pacific, the Red Storm will make its yearly trip to the San Francisco Bay. DSU will play Dominican to start the trip on Jan. 29 in San Rafael trying to break a three-game losing streak to the Penguins. Next, the Storm heads to historic Kezar Pavilion for the second meeting of the year with Academy of Art on Jan. 31. Kicking off the month of February, Dixie State will swing across the bay to face Holy Names in Oakland on the 2nd. DSU plays five of its final six games in the regular season at home, beginning Feb. 7 against NDNU.
1,000 POINT CLUB ABOUT TO GET FIFTH MEMBER
Senior DeQuan Thompson (Las Vegas, NV/Lake Mead Christian Academy) currently ranks fifth on Dixie State's all-time scoring list. Thompson, a 6-foot-3 guard from Las Vegas, is 15 points away from the 1,000-career point mark. He played his 100th career game on Jan. 17 against CBU. Thompson is averaging 9.8 points per game, shooting at a 45 percent clip from the field (315-705), 42.9 percent from 3-point land (106-247) and 74.5 percent from the foul line (245-329).
FRESHMEN COMING OF AGE
Trevor Hill (Sandy, UT/Alta) and Zac Hunter (American Fork, UT/American Fork) have each won PacWest Freshman of the Week awards this season, but their impact over the past four games have aided in Dixie State's recent success. Hill, named Freshman of the Week on Jan. 12, registered career-highs with 11 points and 13 rebounds in the Storm's last road win at BYU-Hawaii and has been the third leading rebounder in the last four games. Hunter, despite being held scoreless against CBU, has averaged 6.0 PPG and 3.8 rebounds in the last four games averaging 17 minutes.

Zach Robbins (Upland, CA/Upland) ranks seventh in the PacWest in scoring (16.0 PPG) and has pulled down a team-leading 8.4 rebounds per game (third in the PacWest). Robbins has scored in double figures in 14 of Dixie State's 16 games, including five double doubles. He is shooting a career-best 83.1 percent from the free throw line, good for sixth in the league. Most recently, he posted a double double of 23 points and 10 rebounds against CBU.Â

Senior forward/center Zach Robbins (Upland, CA/Upland) was named to the Sporting News NCAA Division II All-American Second Team. Robbins becomes the first Storm player to earn such a prestigious honor. He was a PacWest First Team selection in 2013-14 and earned two West Region nods (Daktronics/NABC).Â
PACWEST PRESEASON NEWS
The Dixie State men's basketball team has been chosen second in the Pacific West Conference preseason coaches poll, as announced by the league office on Tuesday. Senior forward/center Zach Robbins (Upland, CA/Upland) (Upland, CA/Upland) secured a spot on the Preseason All-PacWest Team for the second consecutive year. Defending league champion California Baptist was selected first, securing nine of 13 possible first-place votes. The Red Storm and Dominican, picked to finish sixth, each garnered one first-place vote. Third-place Chaminade received two first-place votes BYU-Hawaii was tabbed fourth, and Azusa Pacific fifth in the vote. Rounding out the league's remaining seven, in order, were Point Loma, Hawaii Pacific, Fresno Pacific, Academy of Art, Notre Dame de Namur, Hawaii Hilo and Holy Names. Robbins was a PacWest 1st Team All-Conference selection last year and garnered West Region recognition by the coaches and sports information directors. He was named the Preseason Player of the Year in 2013-14 and backed it up with a stellar season averaging 15.8 points and 9.5 rebounds per game while posting 17 double doubles.
THE JUDKINS FILE
Jon Judkins, a five-time PacWest Coach of the Year (2009-13), directed Dixie State into the playoffs in each the last five previous seasons. He has a 176-89 record at DSU, including a 21-7 mark last year. DSU tied for second in the PacWest regular season and qualified for the league tournament. The Red Storm posted a 22-7 record in 2013, equaling the school record for victories in the NCAA era. The squad won the 2013 PacWest regular season with a 15-3 conference record and Tournament titles to earn a West Regional Automatic bid. Judkins led DSU to the 2011 West Regional Final against league rival BYU-Hawaii in 2011. That season, the Red Storm won their only two Regional games to date with triumphs over Chaminade and Seattle Pacific. Judkins led DSU in its final year of junior college competition in 2006 to a 21-12 record. Prior to coaching at Dixie State, he spent 12 years, posting a 284-128 record, at Snow College in Ephraim, Utah. The Badgers won the SWAC titles in 1999 and 2000, earning Judkins league Coach of the Year honors. Judkins played for one year at Dixie State before serving an LDS mission. He transferred to Utah State and became the first Aggie to post a triple-double. During the 1987-88 season, he helped the Aggies win their conference tournament and a bid to the NCAA Tournament.Â
