Hill scores 21 points in Dixie State 67-65 win over Southern Utah

CEDAR CITY, Utah-Breann Hill (Harrisburg, PA/McDevitt) scored a team-high 21-points leading the Dixie State College women's basketball team to a 67-65 exhibition win over Southern Utah University.

For the second consecutive game the Red Storm upset a Division I opponent, just a week ago DSC defeated Utah Valley University 75-72.

Trailing 59-52 with 4:54 to play, Shanae Vaifanua (Hurricane, UT/Hurricane) scored six of her eight points and Sheila Adams (Layton, UT/Layton) connected on a jumper and a three-pointer in a 12-0 Red Storm run to take the lead at 64-59 with 1:51 remaining.

Southern Utah's Challis Pascucci hit two free throws with seventeen seconds left to cut the DSC advantage to 66-65. Hill hit one of two from the charity stripe with 12 seconds left to give DSC the 67-65 lead. The Thunderbirds missed a jumper and the Red Storm's Erica Carlson (Tucson, AZ/Canyon del Oro HS) blocked the final SUU attempt as time expired.

Dixie State shot 32.9 (25-76) percent from the field and connected on 47.1 (8-17) percent from three point range. Adams scored 15 points and Carlson led the team in rebounds with 11.

Southern Utah shot 39.1 (25-64) percent from the floor and 50 (4-8) percent from three-point range. Caitlyn Sears scored a game high 24 points and Pascucci added 14 rebounds for the Thunderbirds.

With the victory the Red Storm end their exhibition season 2-0 and will now prepare to take on Division I Utah State University Friday night the 12th in Logan.
