Box Score LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Thirteen Red Storm steals led the Dixie State women's basketball team to a 67-57 decision to Cal State Dominguez Hills. Carrying the offense, was
Tanya Clark (Beaumont. CA/Beaumont) with 17 points and eight rebounds.
Getting the lead early and trying to hold on was the motto of the Red Storm's game today, it featured six ties and four lead changes.
Dixie State shot 37 percent for the game and allowed the Toros to shoot 40 percent. DSC won the battle of the boards 42-35 and ultimately the difference in the games was the 23 turnovers that CSUDH committed that lead to 24 Dixie State points.
At the end of the night, 10 of DSC's players had at least one steal, adding to a team total of 13. The Toros only grabbed six steals. Leading the Red Storm was 3 steals from Clark and 2 from
Deanna Daniels (North Las Vegas, NV/Centennial).
Shooting at the line was the nights other key factor as CSUDH made only 12-of-21 attempts while the Red Storm was nearly perfect with 24-of-30.
The Red Storm ended with three players scoring in double-digits, Clark with 17, Deana Daniels 13 and
Johnna Brown (Las Vegas, NV/Centennial ) with 12.
With the win DSC improves to 3-4 and will play again tomorrow at the same place against Cal State Los Angeles. Tonight's game was played on the campus of CSULA due to work being done on the floor at CSUDH. Tip-off is slated at 2:00 pm tomorrow.
