(Honolulu, Sept. 6, 2026) - The Trailblazers closed out the OUTRIGGER Invitational on Sunday afternoon falling in four sets to Loyola Marymount at Bankoh Arena at Stan Sheriff Center.
Loyola Marymount (5-1) took the opening set, 25-23 with Utah Tech (3-3) winning set two, 25-17 before the Lions claimed set three & four, 25-23, 25-16.
Senior outside hitter
Tessa Treanor led the Trailblazers with a career-high 17 kills & added a career-best 54 attacks.
Treanor tallied her second straight double-double finishing with 10 digs and matched her career high with five service aces.
Senior setter
Marley Roe notched her third straight double-double of the tournament leading the way with 24 assists & added 14 digs.
Junior middle blocker
Lusia Langi matched her career high with a team-high six blocks and added nine kills.
How It Happened
The Trailblazers jumped out to an 8-6 lead in the opening set and continued to lead by as many three (17-14) after blocks by Langi &
Cale Torgerson.
A kill by Treanor kept Utah Tech in the lead by three at 20-17, but a 5-2 run for the Lions locked up the set at 22. The final point of the set for UT came on a kill by
Shaylee Dahle before LMU scored the final three points of the set for the comeback set win.
The second set saw LMU take an early 12-9 lead, but five straight points for the Trailblazers on four kills & a service ace by
Mya Laufiso pushed UT in the lead, 14-12.
One final kill in the set by the Lions cut the Trailblazers' lead to 20-17, but Utah Tech scored the final five points of the set to lock up the match at one set apiece with an eight-point set win.
LMU again took an early lead in the third set leading 10-8, but a 5-1 run by the Trailblazers pushed UT in the lead, 13-11 after a kill by Torgerson.
A kill by Langi kept the Trailblazers up by a pair (16-14) and after ties in the set at 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 & 22, three of the final four points in the set went to LMU for the narrow 25-23 set win.
With the Trailblazers looking to even the match at two sets apiece in the fourth set, the set got out to an even 7-7 start with a kill by Treanor keeping UT within one (10-9).
A 6-1 run by LMU pushed their lead to 16-10 with three straight points by the Trailblazers cutting the Lions' lead in half after a pair of kills & a service ace by Treanor.
That would be as close as the Trailblazers would get in the final set as the Lions closed out the match on a 9-3 run.
