(Irvine, Calif. - Sept. 11, 2026) - The Trailblazers opened the UC Irvine Invitational on Friday afternoon with a sweep over San Jose State at the Bren Events Center.
Utah Tech (4-3) completed their second sweep of the season taking down the Spartans, 25-23, 25-16, 25-20 as the Trailblazers hit a season-best .379 as a team.
Just one match after setting a new career high with 17 kills last Sunday against Loyola Marymount, senior outside hitter
Tessa Treanor set a new career high on Friday totaling 20 kills while hitting a season-best .500 & added six digs.

Nana Asiata tallied 12 kills while senior setter
Marley Roe notched her fourth straight double-double leading the team with 22 assists and added 12 digs.

How It Happened
Getting out to a slow start in the opening set, San Jose State (4-3) led 13-6 in the early going.
A kill by Treanor started a 3-0 run to pull within four (13-9) and the Spartans continued to lead by four at 20-16 after a service ace.

Lusia Langi pulled the Trailblazers within two (20-18) and SJSU led 22-19 after a kill.
The Trailblazers responded finishing out the set with a 6-1 run with a kill by Langi getting the run started. Five kills & a service ace by Treanor completed the comeback win in the set for UT.
Hitting .455 in the second set, UT overcame an early 9-7 lead by the Spartans to go on an 8-2 run to take a 15-11 lead after a kill by Dahle.
A 6-3 run for the Trailblazers extended their lead to 21-14 after a kill by Treanor and the set ended on a 4-1 run by the Trailblazers.
After another slow start to the third set with the Spartans leading 7-5, the Trailblazers went ahead 10-9 after a kill by Treanor.
With ties at points 10 through 15 in the set, three straight points by the Trailblazers pushed UT in the lead 18-15 after a service ace by
Kaleinani Watson.
The Spartans pulled to within a point (19-18), but a 6-2 run by UT wrapped up the set with the final two points coming on a kill by Treanor and a Spartan attack error.
Numbers to Know
- The Trailblazers topped their previous season high in hitting percentage of .365 against Oregon State on Aug. 28.
- Utah Tech led the Spartans in kills (55-37), hitting percentage (.379-.231), digs (40-30) & assists (50-35) with SJSU leading the way in service aces (5-3) & blocks (6-5).
- The Trailblazers have reached double figures in blocks assists in six of seven matches this season after finishing with 10 on Friday.
