Trailblazers Tripped Up in Series Finale Against UT Arlington, 9-4

(St. George, Utah - April 18, 2026) - The Trailblazers fell in the series finale against UT Arlington, 9-4 on Saturday afternoon at Karl Brooks Field.

Utah Tech (16-28, 3-9 WAC) tallied 11 hits in the contest, but were unable to overcome an early 7-0 deficit to drop their fourth straight contest.

Led by three Trailblazers with two hits apiece, sophomore Kinley Pappas smacked her team-leading 10th home run of the season to go along with a single while Baylee Howley and Abby Davidson added two hits apiece.

Jayda Gleave and Kennedy Embrey each tallied one double apiece and Maka Sonognini laced her second triple of the season.

In the circle, Sauren Garton tossed the first 2.1 innings allowing seven hits and six runs before giving way to Delaney Wright for the final 4.2 innings.

How It Happened
A two-run RBI double in the first inning for UTA (21-21, 9-6 WAC) got the Mavericks on the board and a five-run second inning, including a grand slam, pushed their lead to 7-0.

Pappas responded getting the Trailblazers on the board leading off the bottom of the third with a home run to left field.

RBI singles by the Mavericks in the fifth and sixth innings pushed UTA in front, 9-1, but three late runs by the Trailblazers kept UT from being run-ruled.

An RBI single to left by Howley in the sixth put one run on the board and two more runs came around in the seventh.

An RBI double by Gleave drove home Sonognini and Gleave came around to score after a throwing error by UTA on a single by Davidson.
