(St. George, Utah - March 28, 2026) - The Trailblazers dropped the series finale to Southern Utah on Saturday afternoon falling 12-4 in five innings at Karl Brooks Field.
Utah Tech (13-21, 3-3 WAC) got base knocks by six different Trailblazers with two-hit performances by
Kennedy Embrey and
Baylee Howley.
Kinley Pappas tallied her team-leading 15th double of the season and
Sadie Phillips added her first triple of the season and drew a walk.
In the circle,
Sauren Garton made her 15th start of the season tossing a pair of innings allowing six hits, seven runs, three earned runs and struck out one.
Riley Price and
Lexie Wilson finished out the final three innings of work combining to strike out three.
How It Happened
The Trailblazers raced out to a quick 2-0 lead after the first inning with RBI singles by
Lakaiya-Braessia Kahahawai-Kekona and Embrey.
Southern Utah (16-20, 2-4 WAC) responded with five runs in the second, including a three-run RBI single, added a two-run home run in the third and three more runs in the fourth to push their lead to 10-2.
Utah Tech put an end to the Thunderbirds scoring barrage answering back with a pair of runs in the bottom of the fourth on a two-run RBI triple by Phillips down the right field line.
SUU responded back with two runs of their own in the fifth to take back a 12-4 lead and after singles by Embrey and Howley in the bottom of the frame, one final flyout by pinch-hitter
Jayda Gleave saw the Thunderbirds win by run-rule.

The Trailblazers head out on the road next weekend traveling to California Baptist (27-12, 5-1 WAC) on Friday and Saturday.
