Utah Tech saw its brief two-game win streak come to a halt after an 11-1 run-rule road loss at UNLV on Saturday night at Earl E. Wilson Stadium.
Â
The Trailblazers (15-9/0-0 WAC) had their chances offensively in the early going as they had runners on the base paths in each of the first four innings. However Rebel southpaw Parker Dillhoff (W, 3-0) was able to keep Utah Tech from putting runs on the scoreboard.
Â
Meanwhile senior righthander
Dakoda West (L, 2-3), who struck out a career high tying eight, kept the Blazers in the game as he limited the high-powered UNLV offense, which entered the game ranked 14
th-nationally in runs scored, to just four runs and seven hits over his first four innings of work.
Â
Down 7-0 in the sixth, Utah Tech got on the scoreboard when
Ty Johnsen chased home
Ryan Kroepel, who reached on a lead-off double.
Â
UNLV (15-8) went on to tack on four more runs in the home seventh to end the game.Â
Utah Tech mustered only seven hits, three of which went for extra bases, as
Petey Soto Jr. and
Hudson Manwaring also legged out doubles.Â
Â
The Trailblazers will look to even the brief two-game road series on Sunday afternoon beginning at 1:05 p.m. (MT).Â
