(Grand Junction, Co - Feb. 27, 2026) – Utah Tech women's tennis takes down Colorado College, 6-1 to complete a 2-0 Grand Junction road trip.
The Trailblazers (5-7, 0-0 WAC) came out strong in doubles play yet again today, with duo
Ana Gutierrez Sampere and
Mariana Zurita Berdecio winning handily 6-2 and at Doubles No. 3 freshman pair
Ilse Fernanda Elechiguerra Ortega and
Cameron Hendrix clinched the Doubles point by triumphing 6-4. Finally, in Doubles No. 2,
Nutsa Tsintsadze and
Maya Inouye battled out a hard fought 7-5 win to sweep the doubles matches.
UT carried their momentum into singles match play, beginning with a strong showing at Singles No. 4 from
Nutsa Tsintsadze, winning in two sets, 6-0 and 6-3. Junior
Ana Gutierrez Sampere also made quick work of her opponent, gaining a point in two sets, 6-2 and 6-1, at Singles No. 2.
Freshman
Cameron Hendrix continued her strong rookie season for the Trailblazers by clinching the match victory with a two set win (6-2, 6-3) at SIngles No. 5. Hendrix's win today improved her team best singles record to 7-3 on the 2026 season.
Colorado College (2-1, 0-0 SCAC) pushed Utah Tech to three tiebreaking sets this morning, and the Trailblazers ended up victorious in two of those three instances.
Coach Pelton was pleased with his team this weekend saying,"It was a great weekend! They worked on things and really played well! Proud of their hard work and efforts to keep improving and getting better every day!"
