(Grand Junction, Co - Feb. 27, 2026) – Utah Tech women's tennis sweeps Colorado Mesa 7-0 on Friday at the Elliott Tennis Center in the battle of old RMAC foes. 

The Trailblazers (4-7, 0-0 WAC) ended their two match slide Friday afternoon with an emphatic sweep of Colorado Mesa (6-6, 0-0 Pac West), by coming out swinging in the doubles matches. Duos Mariana Zurita Berdecio/Ana Gutierrez Sampere and Cameron Hendrix/Ilse Fernanda Elechiguerra Ortega set the tone for the Blazers by winning their matches both by a 6-1 score. Maya Inouye and Nutsa Tsintsadze also won their doubles match 6-3 over CMU's Delia Maier and Catalina Ballon.

Utah Tech continued its dominance in the singles matches where Ana Gutierrez Sampere defeated Valentina Gonzalez (6-1, 6-2) to secure the first point for the Trailblazers. Nutsa Tsintsadze also kept the vibe going with a quick 6-2, 6-2 win at Singles No. 4. 

Freshman Cameron Hendrix continued her strong rookie campaign with a hard fought 7-6 (7-2), 6-1 win over the Mavericks' Catalina Ballon at Singles No. 5. Hendrix improved her team best singles' record to 6-3 in the 2026 season.

Ilse Fernanda Elechiguerra Ortega clinched the UT match victory at Singles No. 6, triumphing 6-0, 6-4 over Colorado Mesa's Jane Steur. Isle got back to her winning ways, snapping a 5 match singles loss streak. 

This was the first of two matches between the Trailblazers and the Mavericks, as the two will face off again on April 9th in a double header.
