(St. George, Utah - Feb. 21, 2026) - The Trailblazers split day two of the Lyman Classic on Saturday falling 9-0 to UC Davis and came back to defeat CSU Bakersfield, 10-8 at Karl Brooks Field.
Utah Tech (5-9) was held to five hits in game one against the Aggies and totaled 12 hits in the nightcap against the Roadrunners with four Trailblazers notching multi-hit games.
Drew McKown went 2-for-3 against UCD with a pair of singles while the second contest was led by a 3-for-4 performance by
Gabi Giroux.
The Trailblazers smacked a pair of home runs with a solo home run by
Maka Sonognini and a three-run homer by
Jayda Gleave while
Kinley Pappas tallied a double, triple, a pair of RBI's and scored three runs.
In the circle,
Riley Price tossed six innings in game one before
Lexie Wilson came on in the seventh inning.
The second contest saw
Sauren Garton threw 3.2 innings striking out four and freshman
Delaney Wright earned her first career win tossing the final 3.1 innings of shutout ball limiting the Roadrunners to three hits and struck out two.
How It Happened vs. UC Davis
A lead off home run in the top of the first for the Aggies gave UC Davis a quick 1-0 lead before three more runs came around in the third to give UCD a 4-0 lead.
An RBI ground out by the Aggies in the sixth tacked on one more run before UCD rounded out the scoring in the seventh with a four-run frame scoring on a sacrifice fly and three-run home run by Alyssa Dethlefson, her second home run of the game.
How It Happened vs. CSU Bakersfield
After falling behind 8-2 after a six-run top of the fourth for the Roadrunners, the Trailblazers closed out the contest with eight unanswered runs to storm back for the comeback victory.
The Trailblazers began their come-from-behind win responding with a five-run bottom of the fourth getting lead off singles by freshmen
Naya Taylor and
Summer Sanderson.
Gleave followed with a three-run long shot to left field and after a walk to McKown, an RBI triple from Pappas cut it to 8-6. The scoring was rounded out when Pappas scored after a CSUB throwing error.
A scoreless fifth led to the Trailblazers scoring the eventual final three runs of the contest in the sixth to notch the win.
Pappas locked up the game at eight with an RBI double to left-center and the scoring was rounded out with an RBI ground out by
Lauren Jones and an RBI single up the middle by Giroux.
Wright sent down the Roadrunners in order in the seventh to lock up their second win over CSUB in two days.
