(Farmington, UT – Oct 27, 2026) – Utah Tech women's soccer goalkeeper
Emma McIff was selected as the Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Tuesday afternoon.
Emma had a stellar week in net for UT, helping the Trailblazers to a 0-0-2 record over the past week. She recorded 10 saves, a shutout, and recorded a penalty kick save. McIff allowed just one goal while facing 27 shots.
The redshirt sophomore got her award-winning week started with a shutout on the road at Idaho. McIff tallied three saves en route to keeping the opponent off the scoreboard for the third time in her last four starts, all in Big Sky play. Emma also extended her streak of first-half shutouts to four.
On Sunday at Eastern Washington, the Pleasant Grove native led the Trailblazers to their second consecutive road draw, recording seven saves. Her most important save came late in the second half on a penalty kick, where Emma dove, fully extended to her right to keep EWU from doubling their lead, and allowing Utah Tech to then later even the score and earn a point.
McIff's first-half shutout streak now sits at five, which has helped drop her goals allowed average down to just 1.32 per game.
Emma McIff is the second Blazer goalie to be named Big Sky Defensive Player of the Week, as
Elle Rafajko was awarded that title back in September.
