Trailblazers Shut Out at UNLV on Saturday, 7-0

(Las Vegas, Nev. - Jan. 31, 2026) – Utah Tech women's tennis was shut out at UNLV, 7-0, on Saturday at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. 

The Rebels (2-0, 0-0 Mountain West) took the doubles point with wins at second and third doubles to open the match. Utah Tech (1-5, 0-0 WAC) juniors Mariana Zurita Berdecio and Ana Gutierrez Sampere were trailing UNLV's Eszter Kis-Czako and Veronika Kliuch, 4-3, at first doubles when the set went unfinished.

UNLV carried its momentum into singles play, earning a 7-0 sweep. 

After dropping the first set, 6-4, sophomore Nutsa Tsintsadze battled back to claim the second set 6-3 at No. 4 singles. With the overall match decided, Kis-Cazko took the 10-point tiebreaker, 10-7.

The Trailblazers finish action at the Fertitta Tennis Complex tomorrow with a rematch against future conference-mate Weber State at 11 a.m. (MT).
