(Las Vegas, Nev. - Jan. 30, 2026) – Utah Tech women's tennis was tripped up by Youngstown State, 4-3, on Friday in a neutral-site match at the Fertitta Tennis Complex. The Trailblazers picked up all three of their points in singles play.

YSU (2-2, 0-0 Horizon League) took doubles play with wins in the second and third matchups, 6-4 and 6-1, respectively. Utah Tech (1-4, 0-0 WAC) juniors Ana Gutierrez Sampere and Mariana Zurita Berdecio were leading at first doubles, 5-4, when the set was left unfinished. 

Gutierrez Sampere extended her singles winning streak to three matches with a 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, win over Penguin Yeseniia Ovcharova on the third court. It was the third singles match to go three sets this season for the reigning WAC Singles Player of the Week, with Gutierrez Sampere's record at 2-1 in those contests.

Sophomore Nutsa Tsintsadze picked up her first singles win of the dual season in straight sets at No. 4 singles. She took down YSU's Yoana Dudova, 6-1, 6-3.

On the fifth court, freshman Cameron Hendrix won her second singles match in a row, dispatching Penguin Line Greyling in a marathon 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 affair.

Youngstown State secured its victory with wins at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 6 singles.

The Trailblazers continue action at the Fertitta Tennis Complex tomorrow by taking on host UNLV at 11 a.m. (MT). The match will be livestreamed and live-scored with links on the UT women's tennis schedule page at utahtechtrailblazers.com.
