(Riverside, Calif. - Sept. 27, 2025) - The Trailblazer cross country teams returned to action on Saturday morning at the UC Riverside Invitational hosted at the UCR AG OPS Course.

After a four-week break since opening the season at the NAU George Kyte Classic on Aug. 30, the women got action started with the 6K Invite with nine Trailblazers competing in the race.

Junior Averie Perriton, who clocked the third-fastest 6K time in program history, led the way with a 15th-place finish posting a time of 20:52.7.

Three more Trailblazers finished in the top 100 with Makayla Pitcher (21:28.5), Adri Bird (21:33.8) and Charly Murie (21:45.3) coming in 64th, 74th and 96th, respectively.

Pitcher joined Perriton in posting a top 10 time in program history notching the ninth-fastest 6K time in program history.

On the men's side, nine Traiblazers also competed with junior Ryan Hatch leading the way as he was one of three Trailblazers to finish in the top 100.

Hatch placed 64th overall with an 8K time of 24:54.8 and was joined in the top 100 by Dawson Leffler (76th, 24:59.3) and Mordechai Yadegar  (99th, 25:12.0).

The women finished in 11th place as a team scoring 333 points and the men came in 17th with 382 points. San Francisco won both the men's and women's invite races.

A pair of men and a pair of women also competed in the open division with senior Savannah Rydalch leading the women placing 39th in the 5K and freshman Carter Frost finishing 148th to lead the men in the 6K.

The Trailblazers are back in action next Saturday (Oct. 4) at the SUU Color Country Invitational in Cedar City.
