Michelle Rodriguez scored her first collegiate goal in the effort.
After missed shots and blocked shots through the first 20 minutes, the game's first shot on frame resulted in a goal for BSU (1-0-2, 0-0-0 MW). Bronco freshman midfielder Madie Donovan stole the ball and sent it to redshirt senior forward Kenzie MacMillan, who pushed a through ball into the box. Junior forward Asia Lawyer caught up with the ball and blasted a shot past senior goalkeeper

Lacy Fox launched Utah Tech's first shot on goal in the 35th minute. Boise State freshman goalkeeper Ava de Leest made the save.
The Trailblazers (1-2-1, 0-0-0 WAC) kept the pressure on in the closing minutes of the first half, resulting in two close, but off-target shots by senior forward

Bre Koscielski threatened in the box in the 41st minute, but both had their shots blocked by defenders.
After halftime, UT played with urgency, forcing a save by de Leest on a high shot by sophomore forward

Frey made her first save of the match on a dive to her left post to keep out a long shot by BSU junior forward Cindy Conner in the 52nd minute.
In the 64th minute, Boise State was awarded a penalty kick after MacMillan was tripped up just inside the box. MacMillan converted the penalty to the bottom right of the net to extend the Bosie State lead to 2-0.
Utah Tech bounced back, scoring its goal 55 seconds after kickoff. Freshman defender
Abby Olsen forced a save by de Leest, which gave the Trailblazers a corner kick. Brost sent in the corner, and Rodriguez snuck behind two Bronco defenders to head in her first career goal.
Thornton had a pair of chances, created on the near side by deft passing and dribbling, but ultimately missed both shots to the left of the post in the 73rd minute.
Fox recorded UT's last shot in the 89th minute, a long-range strike that went over the crossbar.
Frey would tally three saves in the final 12 minutes to keep UT in the match, finishing her day with four saves.
Boise State held a 16-14 advantage in shots, with a 6-4 lead in shots on goal. The Broncos were shown four yellow cards to UT's one.
Utah Tech returns to action on Thursday, Aug. 28, at CSUN in Northridge, California. The contest, the first of a stretch of three road matches, is set to kick off at 8 p.m. (MT) at Matador Soccer Field, with a broadcast on ESPN+.
