Utah Tech baseball placed four student-athletes on to the 2024-25 College Sports Communicators Division I Academic All-District® Baseball team, which was announced on Tuesday.
Among the 590 total honorees on the Division I team list are senior outfielder
Hunter Katschke, junior outfielder
Levi Randall, and sophomore pitchers
Cade Montgomery and Aaron Morris.
The 2024-25 Academic All-District® Baseball Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the diamond and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced July 1.
Katschke (3.65 GPA), who is a two-time CSC honoree and graduated with his Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice last month, enjoyed a banner senior season, during which he batted .283 in 50 games and led the Trailblazers with 11 home runs and 42 RBI.
The senior right fielder collected 52 total hits and 30 runs scored in 46 starts, and finished the year with four outfield assists, two of which resulted in double plays.
Randall (3.96 GPA), who graduated Summa Cum Laude with his Bachelor's degree in Accounting this past May 2, put together a breakout 2025 campaign. The left fielder hit .301 with seven doubles, one triple, 10 RBI and 30 runs scored.
Randall also led the team and finished t-12
th in the Western Athletic Conference in stolen bases with 13 (13-of-18), which also tied for seventh on Utah Tech's single-season steals list, and led the Trailblazer defense with five outfield assists.
Montgomery (3.85 GPA – applied and computational mathematics major), who earned 2025 second team all-WAC honors, had established himself as one of the most dominant starting pitchers in the WAC this season before his season came to an abrupt end due to a foot injury suffered at Tarleton State back on April 25.
The sophomore righthander, who finished the season as the WAC's ERA leader at 2.35 in 10 starts, was 4-2 with 48 strikeouts in 57.1 innings pitched, and held opposing hitters to a .222 batting average. He was also named to the 2025 College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Year watch list back on April 18.
Morris (3.60 GPA – recreation and sports management major) led the Trailblazer pitching staff with 24 appearances this past season and posted a 1-3 with 19 strikeouts in 29.2 innings pitched.
The sophomore reliever earned his second career decision in Utah Tech's 10-9 home victory over Seattle U (5/2). In addition, he put together his best overall collegiate pitching performance in the WAC Tournament vs. Abilene Christian (5/22), against which he struck out three in 5.1 innings (career high) of three-hit scoreless relief.
