Utah Tech closed the 2024-25 season with a seventh place finish at the 2025 Western Athletic Conference Men's Golf Championships, which wrapped up play on Sunday at the Golf Club at Chapparal Pines in Payson, Ariz.

The Trailblazers, who entered Sunday nine shots out of the team lead, battled through a roller coaster of a final round.

Utah Tech (302-293-303) got off to a great start, combining to go 4-under par through the team's first six holes to vault into second place on the leaderboard.

The Blazers cooled over their final three holes on the front nine, but found themselves tied for third place as they made the turn at even par.

However the back nine proved to be Utah Tech's undoing as the Trailblazers were a combined 15-over par coming in and wound up falling to seventh with a three-day total of plus-34 898.

Seattle U (290-296-298) held off a late Grand Canyon (293-300-294-887; +23) charge to capture the WAC team championship at plus-20 884, three shots clear of runner-up GCU, while Utah Valley (304-295-289-888; +24) vaulted over Tarleton State (297-293-299-889; +25) to claim third place by one stroke.

Sophomore Ashton McArthur (74-71-71) closed out his stellar weekend with his second-consecutive 1-under 71 on Sunday to finish in solo third place at even par 216. For McArthur, it was his first top-five finish as a Trailblazer, and his second top-five collegiate showing overall.

McArthur went out in even par 35, then birdied the par-5 12th, and eagled the par-4 15th, which was his second eagle on the weekend.

The sophomore's eagle also moved him briefly into a tie atop the leaderboard, and despite recording pars on his final three holes, he had to settle for the third-place showing.

Fellow sophomore Jackson Rhees (76-72-78) also came away with a top-20 finish, and his third top-20 of the season, as he tied three others for 16th at plus-10 226.

Junior Tanner Telford (77-76-77) wound up in a tie for 28th at plus-14 230, followed by fellow junior Zach Felts (75-76-83) in t-36th place at plus-18 234, and sophomore KJ Ofahengaue (85-74-77) in solo 39th at plus-20 236.

Utah Tech finished its fifth season of NCAA Division I play with seven top-eight showings in 10 team events, highlighted by a runner-up finish at the season-opening Colorado State Ram Masters Invitational this past September (9/17-18/24).
