Utah Tech baseball sophomore righthander Cade Montgomery has been named to the 2025 College Baseball Foundation National Pitcher of the Year watch list, as announced by the organization this past Friday.
 
Montgomery, who is the lone Western Athletic Conference representative, is one of 54 pitchers from 20 NCAA Division I conferences throughout the country who were named to the midseason list. 
 
Montgomery has shined as the Trailblazers' Friday night staff ace, compiling a 4-2 overall record in nine starts, and currently leads all WAC starting pitchers with a 2.48 ERA. 
 
The sophomore is also ranked in the WAC's top-10 in wins (4, t-5th), innings pitched (54.1, 6th), opponent batting average (.228, 7th), and strikeouts (47, t-8th; 7.78 K/9). 
 
Montgomery has recorded at least six strikeouts in five of his nine outings this season, highlighted by a career-high nine punch outs at California Baptist back on March 21. 

"We are extremely excited about the group of pitchers who are leading the way in 2025," CBF Pitcher of the Year Award co-chair Chris Snead said. "This will be a difficult choice to select the best of the best!"
