(Arlington, Texas - March 8, 2025) - The Trailblazers closed out its opening WAC series on Saturday afternoon at UT Arlington falling 5-0 to the Mavericks at Allan Saxe Field.
Utah Tech (10-14, 1-2 WAC) was held to one hit in the contest, a single by
Brooklyn Dowdle in the second inning.
The Trailblazers were able to draw four walks with
Cassidy Hornung drawing a pair and one apiece from
Rylie Haith and
Marisa Rubio.
In the circle,
Sauren Garton made her 11th start of the season tossing four innings allowing five hits, five runs, walked three and struck out three.
Cemryn Pickett came on for the final two innings holding UT Arlington (12-9, 2-1 WAC) to three hits and matched her season high with three strikeouts.
How It Happened
A scoreless first two innings saw the Mavericks get on the board first with a three-run third inning getting three straight one-out doubles to score two and added another run on an RBI single by Mia McNulty.
Two more runs came around for the Mavs in the fifth on an RBI single by McNulty and an RBI single by Marley Neises for a 5-0 lead.
Utah Tech looked to break up the shuout bid in the final two frames, but were retired in order in both turns at bat.
