(St. George, Utah - March 11, 2025) - The Trailblazers opened their seven-game homestand on Tuesday afternoon falling 14-0 in five innings against BYU at Karl Brooks Field.
Utah Tech (10-15) was held to one hit by BYU (16-6) pitching getting a first-inning single by
Kinley Pappas.
Rylie Haith also drew a walk in the first inning, but the final four innings saw the Trailblazers retired in order.
The Cougars tallied 15 hits as a team, with only two going for extra bases, as four different Cougars had multiple hits.
Riley Price made her 10th start of the season and went 3.1 innings before giving way to
Sauren Garton for an inning with
Cemryn Pickett tossing the final two outs of the fifth to close out the Trailblazers work in the circle.
How It Happened
BYU jumped out to an early 3-0 lead with a three-run home run by Ilove'a Brittingham and added a two-run RBI single by Aleia Agbayani for a 5-0 lead.
Adding a run in the second, BYU extended their lead to 9-0 with a three-run fourth inning scoring one on an RBI ground out and tacked on two more on an RBI double by Agbayani.
Five more runs came home for the Cougars in the fifth to push their lead to 14-0 as the Trailblazers were shut out for only the third time this season.
