After a two-week break, Utah Tech will return to action this weekend as the Trailblazers head to Bandon, Ore., to play in the Idaho-hosted Bandon Dunes Championships.
The three-day, 54-hole event will be played this Sunday-through-Tuesday at the par-71, 6,794-yard Bandon Trails Golf Course, which is rated as the No. 6 public course in the United States by Golfweek Magazine.
Along with the Trailblazers, the 15-team field will include fellow WAC members Utah Valley, Seattle U and Tarleton State. In addition, Air Force, Boise State, Boston College, CSUN, Eastern Kentucky, Morehead State, North Dakota State, North Idaho, Oregon, San Jose State, SIU-Edwardsville, and the host Vandals round out the field.
The five player lineup for Utah Tech will feature juniors Zach Felts, Tanner Telford and Maddox Vincent, and sophomores Ashton McArthur, KJ Ofahengaue and  Jackson Rhees.

HEAD COACH BRAD SUTTERFIELD: Brad Sutterfield (BYU, 1994) is in his 13th season as head coach of the Utah Tech men's golf program. Last season, Sutterfield led the Trailblazers to six top-15 team finishes in 10 events, highlighted by a sixth-place finish at the 2024 WAC Championships.
In the 2018-19 campaign, Coach Sutterfield and the Trailblazers enjoyed arguably their most successful season in the program's four-year era, posting six top-five team finishes and 11 total top-10 showings in 12 total team events, highlighted by a wire-to-wire victory at the 2019 NCAA Division II Men's Golf South Central/West Regional Championships. Utah Tech also placed ninth-overall at the 2019 NCAA National Championships and recorded a runner-up finish in its debut at the RMAC Championships.
In 2018, Sutterfield led Utah Tech to its third Pacific West Conference team title in four seasons, which earned him his second conference Coach of the Year award. The Trailblazers collected four tournament wins overall that season, along with seven-straight top-three team finishes and nine total top-10s in nine events overall.
Under his direction, the program finished in the top-three overall in the PacWest in six seasons overall, including consecutive PacWest team titles in 2015 and 2016, and a runner-up finish in 2014, for which Sutterfield was named conference Coach of the Year. Prior to his arrival at Utah Tech, Sutterfield, who played collegiately at BYU, played professional golf for 15 years as a member of the PGA Tour, European Tour, the Web.com Tour, Canadian Tour, Asian Tour and European Challenge Tour.
Coach Sutterfield is joined on his staff by former Utah Tech standout player Spencer Wallace, who returns to the program in his first season as an assistant coach.

TELFORD EARNS WAC WEEKLY HONOR: Telford was named Western Athletic Conference Men's Golf co-Player of the Week this past Feb. 27, after he helped guide the Trailblazers to a t-seventh place showing at the 2025 Wyoming Desert Intercollegiate (2/24-26).
Telford posted three under-par rounds on his way to a t-sixth place finish at minus-9 207. The junior led Utah Tech and finished t-ninth in the 90-player field with 13 total birdies, five of which came in an opening 4-under 68.
Telford followed that up a 3-under 69 on his second loop with three birdies and no bogeys. He then closed with a 2-under 70 with five more birdies en route to his season-low, under-par tournament score.
In his Trailblazer debut at the Colorado State Ram Masters Inv'l (9/17-18/24), Telford placed solo third at minus-8 202, which tied for the second-lowest individual 54-hole score in program history.

TRAILBLAZERS AT A GLANCE: Through six events this season, Telford leads the team with a 71.87 scoring average with eight par or better rounds, while Felts is third at 72.17 with eight par or better rounds.
Rhees, who has carded a team-high nine par or better rounds, is fourth at 72.22, followed by McArthur (8 par/better rounds) in sixth at 72.87, and Ofahengaue (2 par/better rounds) in seventh at 73.75.

NEXT UP FOR THE TRAILBLAZERS: Utah Tech will return to action in three weeks when the Trailblazers head to University Park, Wash., to play in the Seattle U Redhawk Invitational on March 30-April 1. The tournament will be held at storied Chambers Bay Golf Course, which hosted the 2015 United States Open.
