(Long Beach, Calif. - March 1, 2025) - The Trailblazer softball team continued their strong play on Saturday winning a pair of games on day two of the Louisville Slugger Invitational at the LBSU Softball Complex.
Winning for the fourth time in the last five contests, Utah Tech (9-11) blanked Cal Poly, 6-0 in its first game and came back to defeat ACC member Pittsburgh, 5-2 in its nightcap.
Posting their third shutout of the season against the Mustangs, the Trailblazers totaled nine hits in the contest with
LB Kahahawai-Kekona leading the way going 3-for-4 with a double and RBI.
Carly Eldredge added a pair of hits and scored a run while on the mound,
Riley Price tossed her second straight complete game limiting Cal Poly to six hits and struck out one.
The second contest against the Panthers saw the Trailblazers also nab nine base knocks getting a pair from
Rylie Haith and a team-leading fifth home run of the season by
Jorja Crider.
In the circle,
Sauren Garton won her fourth game of the season tossing a complete game (her fifth of 2025) limiting Pitt to eight hits, two runs (one earned) and struck out four.

Playing as the home team, the Trailblazers used a big second inning to score four runs in the frame with
Maka Sonognini leading off the scoring drawing a bases-loaded walk.
A fielding error by the Mustangs allowed Eldredge to score UT's second run and a bases-loaded walk to
Kinley Pappas made it 3-0 in favor of the Trailblazers.
With the bases continuing to be loaded, the scoring was rounded out with an RBI single to right field by Kahahawai-Kekona.
Extending their lead to 6-0 in the fourth, the Trailblazers scored a pair of runs bringing home one on an RBI single by Pappas and again took advantage of a Cal Poly error as a fielding error by the Mustang left fielder allowed Sonognini to score from second.
It was all Price from there limiting the Mustangs to one hit over the final three innings to earn her fifth win of the season.

Playing as the visitors against the Panthers, UT scored first with a run in the second after a throwing error by the Pitt catcher allowed
Baylee Howley to score from third.
A two-out RBI single by Pitt in the fourth locked up the game at one before a four-run seventh for the Trailblazers broke the game wide open.
A leadoff home run down the left field line by Crider got the scoring started and was followed by RBI singles by Kahahawai-Kekona and Haith.
The scoring was rounded out with Haith coming home to score after a fielding error by Pitt at first base.
The Panthers responded with one run back in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single, but Garton got a ground out and pop up to stave off a late comeback by Pitt.
