(St. George, Utah - Feb. 22, 2025) - Continuing action at the Lyman Classic Tournament on Saturday, the Trailblazers dropped a heartbreaker to Idaho State, 4-3 in eight innings and a marathon 21-15 defeat to Utah State in the nightcap.
Utah Tech (5-10) tallied seven hits in the contest against Idaho State (8-3) and registered a season-high 18 base knocks against Utah State (11-3) in the second contest.
Against the Bengals, six different Trailblazers notched hits led by a pair from
Baylee Howley and added a run scored.
In the circle,
Sauren Garton made her sixth start throwing 4.2 innings allowing five hits, three runs, walked two and struck out one.
Lexie Wilson came into the game in the fifth allowing only one run, but took the hard-fought loss.
In the contest against the Aggies, Howley and
Kinley Pappas each notched four hits apiece with Howley scoring a team-high four runs and Pappas driving in a team-best five RBI.

Jorja Crider smacked a pair of home runs to drive in four RBI and
LB Kahahawai-Kekona added three runs and three RBI.

A low-scoring first four innings of action saw an even 1-1 split with the Trailblazers getting on the board at the end of the third inning with an RBI single by Kahahawai-Kekona.
The Bengals regained a 3-1 lead with a two-run home run in the fifth, but UT responded with two runs in the sixth on an RBI single by
Marisa Rubio and a fielder's choice by Crider that drove home Howley.
Putting a pair of runners in scoring position with one out, the Trailblazers looked to score the go-ahead run, but were held off the board as neither team scored in the seventh to force extra innings for the fourth time this season.
A two-out single by Idaho State in the eighth inning drove home the go-ahead run for the Bengals as a game-ending double play saw Crider line out to second base and then fire a fastball to third base to throw out Howley for the game-ending double play.

A quick two runs for the Aggies got the action started in the top of the first, but the Trailblazers quickly responded with five runs for a 5-2 lead.
An RBI single to left by Pappas was followed by a sacrifice fly by Rubio and finished off with a three-run home run to center by Crider.
Two more runs came around to score for the Trailblazers in the second with an RBI ground out by Pappas and RBI an single by Rubio to push UT's lead to 7-2.
A pair of errors in the third for the Trailblazers opened the door for a four-run frame for the Aggies to cut the lead to 7-6.
Seven runs came home in the third for the Aggies to jump ahead 13-7, but the Trailblazers responded right back with five runs.
An RBI single by Howley was followed by a three-run home run by Pappas to center field. Two batters later, a solo home run by Crider, kept the Trailblazers within one, 13-12.
The Aggies kept hammering the offense in the fifth with three runs to take a 16-12 lead, but three runs by UT made it 16-15 after five innings of action.
An RBI single to center by Rubio, her third RBI of the contest, was followed by a two-run RBI single by freshman
Kennedy Embrey.
Utah State tacked on five more runs, four in the sixth and one in the seventh, to extend their lead to 21-15 as the Trailblazers were held to one hit over the final two frames.
