Trailblazer Softball Signs Six for 2026-27 in November Signing Period

All six of the Trailblazer signees will be freshmen in 2026-27.

(St. George, Utah - Nov. 20, 2025) - The Trailblazer softball program is proud to announce the signing of six outstanding student-athletes in the November signing period to the Trailblazer Softball family.

Please help us welcome Reece Bybee, Natalia Delgadillo, Kylie Carpenter, Abigail McSweeny, Johanna Piña, and Gianna Tuso to Utah Tech!

All six of the newest Trailblazers will be freshmen in 2026-27.

These talented student athletes—hailing from California, Utah, and Idaho—bring exceptional skill, character, and work ethic to our program.

Each of them exemplifies what it means to be a Trailblazer, committed in the classroom, driven on the field, and ready to represent Utah Tech University with pride.
Reece Bybee (Outfielder/Chubbuck, Idaho/Highland HS/USA Explosion Butler/Bybee)
Reece Bybee has established herself as one of the fastest and most impactful athletes in the state of Idaho.

She led Idaho 5A in stolen bases, demonstrating exceptional speed, game awareness, and the ability to create scoring opportunities.

"Reece's versatility to hit at the top or bottom of the lineup will give us depth and she'll always be threat on the bases.  Very skilled, self-driven young lady who will be fun to watch in a Trailblazer uniform," said head coach Randy Simkins.
Natalia Delgadillo (Infielder/Dinuba, Calif./Immanuel HS/Suncats Jimenez)
Natalia Delgadillo brings an elite defensive presence to the Trailblazer infield, having earned both the Golden Glove and Defensive Player of the Year honors through Triple Crown.

She has an excellent feel for the game, great hands and is a good leader as a middle infielder.  

"Natalia's competitiveness and character will elevate our program on and off the field.  She's a quiet kid who can play at a really high level.  She gets better each time I watch her play.  Excited for what she'll bring to our team," said Simkins.
Kylie Carpenter from (Catcher/Infielder/Washington, Utah/Pine View HS/SWAT)
Kylie Carpenter brings tremendous flexibility to the Trailblazers as a utility player. 

She can catch, play infield and outfield all at a high level. This versatility will allow her to contribute in multiple way.

"We're thrilled that Kylie chose Utah Tech.  She's a very talented multi-sport athlete that plays the game hard all the time.  Her work ethic and effort will push her to get better each day," said Simkins.
Abby McSweeney (Catcher/Infielder/Rohnert Park, Calif./Casa Grande HS/Universal Bay Are Tatro)
Abigail McSweeny possesses the leadership, and character to make her an exceptional addition to the Trailblazer family.

Abby has earned numerous defensive and leadership awards throughout her career, and she is poised to be a strong, steady presence behind the plate.

"Abby leads by example both on and off the field. She has earned multiple academic honors, and is known for her dedication to excellence in the classroom.  She can hit for power and average, is a great catcher and will strengthen our team in a lot of areas," said Simkins.
Johana Piña from (Outfielder/Yucaipa, Calif./Ganesha HS/The Vault Fastpitch)
Johanna Piña will be another great addition to our 2026 signing class.

She's a dynamic utility player with the versatility to contribute at multiple positions in both, the infield and outfield.

Her adaptability, competitiveness, and athleticism make her a valuable addition to the Trailblazer lineup.

A proven performer, Johanna has earned high school honors and has been a four-year starter, showcasing consistency, reliability, and a strong softball IQ. She embodies what it means to be a true student-athlete.

"Johana is a fun kid to watch play the game. Her speed gives her the ability to change the game both as a hitter and in the field. The game or moment never gets too tough for her. We are happy that she'll be with us for the next four years," said Simkins.
Gianna Tuso from (Pitcher/Brea, Calif./Brea Olinda HS/USA Athletics RML)
Last but not least, we are adding Gianna Tuso from Brea, Calif. to our 2026 signing class.

Gianna is an accomplished pitcher and standout student-athlete who brings both talent and dedication to the Trailblazer program.

Gianna has earned the Scholar-Athlete Award along with multiple All-League honors throughout her high school career.

"Gianna's commitment to excellence in the classroom is matched by her competitiveness in the circle, where she has consistently been a key contributor for her team.  We are excited to add her to our pitching staff with her outstanding work ethic she is going to be a great leader on the mound," said Simkins.
We are excited to see the impact all six signees will make on our team and our campus community.

All of them are excellent students in the classroom, and can play the game at a very high level.

The future of Utah Tech Softball is bright, and we can't wait to begin this next chapter with them.
